Between both, better go with Asus K40IN (warranty wins here)...if into games (well, both are actually quite sux in games) go with Toshiba.....what is your budget??? and what is the main-usage of the laptop that you'll do, issit gaming?? surfing?? watching movies??

Warranty by Asus is (2 years International Warranty) while Toshiba is (1 year International Warranty + 2nd year Global warranty)

Does battery played an important issue for you?? Why dun you consider getting Asus K40Ab instead of K40In..or you want Intel proc?? Then maybe you can try Dell Studio 15...

well, john been offline for quite a while now...maybe you can try PM him, see if he reply or not ...well, for the BD drive, future proof it is quite important as maybe in 2 years time all those DVD will be change to BD ...well, still you can opt it out..

+1 for Studio 15..overall compared with Asus K40Ab,much better performance in both processing and graphic ...if have cash, better go with Studio 15

For better performances, Dell Studio 15...but if want better value for money than just go for Asus K40Ab..yes, the warranty for Asus win hands down if compared with Dell ( and its International Warranty some more )...

After sales service :
Dell - One of the best after sales service i know.....so far their CS is excellent
Asus - Never heard any complaint so far, and also their CS is

*Buy which one suits you best...

Dell Studio 15 (RM2699) - 15" with Intel Proc (1 year warranty)
Asus K40Ab (RM2299) - 14" with AMD Proc (2 years warranty)

*Still, if have some money better go with Dell Studio 15 ...decision is in your hand

My personal recommendations would be:
1. Asus K40Ab
2. Asus K40In
3. Compaq CQ40

*btw, define light gaming.....many sorts of light gaming..Gamehouse/Kids game or MMORPG?? Or more into Graphic intensive games???

Stay in which area?? Went to Wisma check out some laptops?? Btw, if you are interested in Asus, go to PC City and check there...they are Asus Authorized Seller...at Wisma its hardly to find any other brand, most of it are Acer,HP & Compaq..

Yup, agree with astria, HP Dv3 would be a good choice...tested it and is all i can say...quite light some more ...you say that you'll bring the laptop outdoor so a nice 13" would be nice

That's quite a budget if you ask me, preferences is for online + gaming...well, i think both of the laptop that you mention surely won't satisfied your needs ..you bring your laptop outdoor often?? ...maybe you can as well check out Dell SXPS 16
