try running "system-config-display" and see what you get.
also run, "lspci" if you're unsure whether your graphic card is detected properly or not. |

brother, spend more time reading the Google Search and 'the truth is out there'
some possible solutions (all from the Google Search) - check if ur display card was supported or not? - set to generic display at /etc/X11/xorg.conf - the tip by bro. zeroglyph helps as well to see if the display card was detected and if the driver was installed or not This post has been edited by lelynx: Mar 11 2009, 05:14 PM |

The "/var/log/messages" file is not really the right place to be looking for X related errors. It's probably better to look at "/var/log/Xorg.0.log".
You can try a few thing in this situation. # system-config-display Change the Resolution & Color to something safe, like 800x600 16bit color Change the Monitor to something safe, like Generic 800x600 @ 60Hz Change the Video card to something safe, like vesa If all that fails. Try backing up & then deleting /etc/X11/Xorg.conf Rerun # system-config-display, this will create a fresh new Xorg.conf file. If that still doesn't work. It probably means your video card is totally not supported & probably isn't gonna work with RHEL4. |
