it is very reasonable and makes sense for maxis to get excess stock from Singapore and sell it here.

But as for why Apple hompeage doesn't have Malaysia as one of the countries, we will have to wait till the 20th....

If Maxis is selling unsold stocks from Singapore , then I would personally e-mail to Apple to clarify about this. I wonder if Maxis is that desperate to get it.

Nevertheless lets wait for this 20th to know

actually ah... Iphones in singapore isn't selling too well. they are not doing well at all to be very honest. point is because they are only distributed by singtel, and there are massive StarHub users there, that is a reason iphone isn't doing well in singapore itself. if the facts is true that maxis is getting their supplies from singapore, it may be there is a bridge alliance between maxis and singtel to do something. i got my iphone from singapore and when i was there, the prices of iphones with their packages were reduced.

Why APPLE wont do it in their way? They can just simply put the country flag icon in COMING SOON list ...

LET'S TO THE MATHS!!!

I am now in Maxis ValuePlus50 Plan. (because i'm "light" user)

if i sign up iValue 12 mths Plan
RM1,900 + RM1,200(100perMth) - RM600(my current plan) = RM2,500 for an iPhone3G 8g

if i sign up iValue 24 mths Plan
RM1,510 + RM2,400(100perMth) - RM1,200(my current plan) = RM2,710 for an iPhone3G 8g

*Hong Kong is selling officially "UNLOCK" iphone3g for about RM2,500

Well, i think i still stick to my 1st Gen iphone until WWDC on Jun 2009, because who knows
iphone 4G is coming....

iphone by Maxis...

1. too late - coz ppl are waiting for newer gen. of iphone (based on the trend by the new ipod shuffle, it will surely be slimmer. With VOICE COMMAND also!? biggrin.gif)

2. too expensive - a norm by maxis. Never able to find good price for the bundled phone. like the HTC HD and Blackberry... damn expensive also

Added on March 12, 2009, 6:02 pmthe new Small Talk feature on the new ipod shuffle is an indication of what to be expected on the new iphone ... biggrin.gif

No, iPhones are in countries where locked phones are not allowed.

Look at Singapore, New Zealand. 2 good examples.

Since I'm not a hardcore mobile phone user and I change my phone 4 years once, so, I’ve decided that I will get an IPhone from Maxis. But not now, later a bit just in case.

I hope my maths are correct! ;P

RM2400 + RM1890 - RM2400 = RM1890!
24 month contract (Ivalue 1) + Iphone16G - my average monthly post paid charges for two years(supp line)

------

So if that is the case, I just need to commit to RM178.75 a month for the next two years to own one:

RM2400 + RM1890 / 24months = RM178.75.

Okay la I think, about RM78 extra from my usual usage.

Sure

I'll ask my contacts in Maxis anyway. I doubt they tell me much , for instance they didn't even bother to tell me about the launch earlier.

As somebody earlier said , we just need to find the part number to determine from where its the iPhone. Suppose if its from Malaysia itself , it would have its own part number
