Personally, I think it's not worth it to get one cause June/July is around the corner. Then again, if Maxis are keeping up with the latest model then maybe it's worth it. If not, then we'll have the 3rd-gen iPhone in March/April 2010.

Btw, new iPod Shuffle is out. It deserve as much hype as the iPhone too.

SO Wait for the "sign" then
Whether JUNE all telco in the world will clear the "OLD stock" iphone 3g with cheap price smile.gif
Exactly just like UK scenario around rm1000 with locked 2G Last Year...
ff8ong: He got one already..

Never buy an Apple-related stuff without referring to that link. Apple follow these product cycles religiously, with the exception to niche- or less mainstream products like the Mac Pro or Mac Mini.

Look what it says on the iPhone 3G product cycle. Uninformed buyers only have themselves to blame for not researching the product they are buying and hold far into its product cycle it is. Signs are already pointing towards thi July's new iPhone refresh.

Maxis would not do that. The cost of getting onboard as one of the chosen telcos of the Apple iPhone is too much to watch their potential market audience dwindle away and get their new iPhones from other sources. Once the new iPhone is introduced this July, Maxis will have it shortly after. If not, they are shooting themselves in the foot.

I personally think the price is ridiculously high..
A 16GB is Moscow cost ~Rm2500 only..
How can an iPhone without contract cheaper than an iPhone with contract...lol..

very interesting thread. 26 pages with over 20k views within 12 hours. iphone is worth getting if u are tech savvy. HTC Pro is also good. but the diff u're looking at is games and applications u get from Iphone... and whether u wanna feed those developers with 99cents or what so ever.

all i can say is, if u have money, just get it. all in all Maxis is trying to earn RM3000 minimum from the phone + package . any additional is a plus to them. if u look around the world, the pricing is all the same it will come up to RM3000 (16 GB) irregardless of contract with 12 months or 24months.

1 more thing before i sleep... if u have the cash, u'll get it eventually, if u don't have the cash, u'll still find a way to get it eventually.
*

conclusion, iPhone is expensive stuff. Don't think to get it in cheap price tongue.gif

i think the best still get it from Singtel or others official unlocked country rather than pay so much to maxis and get the same thing...
hopeless maxis.....
i think they know everyone is eyeing on iphone in malaysia so they do such a "good" plan
*
Yup... Cheaper here in NZ. http://www.vodafone.co.nz/iphone/index.jsp look at the price without any plan. Damn rip off by Maxis.

Or get it from Sing or HK..

hv checked the plan and compared with my existing value plan, the sms rate up to rm0.10 compared to RM0.05 and call rate at RM0.12. Of course our iphone deal is much higher compared with Aus/NZ, my cousin got his iphone FREE after sign up 24 months contract of AUD75/month, as for our maxis, RM375/monthx24 months contract then u can get free iphone, If u r new to Maxis, PLEASE PAY RM2k AdVANCE pAYment first rolleyes.gif

however, I believe many ppl will go for maxis iphone deal as compared with the market unlocked oversea price for more then RM2500/unit and some even RM3k+ in digital mall/LYP sweat.gif

How will those iphone seller compete with Maxis Iphone deal? any promo to clear their stock? and very curious to know...

guys , going thru all the post and precious review from u guys in this thread , i must say this is pretty awesome and learned lots of new stuff

i was so excited and plan to sign up the plan , then again , knowing rumours( which probably true) 3rd gen of i phone will be out soon
this will be main reason hestitate me.

the reason i m facing this dilemma and i need you guys opinion is because , currently i m a x1 user and i would really want to sell of the phone and get myself an iphone (officaly unlock)

should i wait for the announce in july of the new iphone then only get the new iphone from maxis ( well , if the 3 rg gen iphone launch at july in us , probably a month later or even earlier it will be malaysia , by knowing apple , once the long waited model is launched , the coming generation version always will launch pretty soon )

i still can sell off my x1 in a very good price for now , but if i waited 4 or 5 months later , i afraid that i wont be able to sell my x1 in the current price:)

as for usage , i pretty much used around 250 ~ 300/ per month, and been with maxis for quite sometime , so ,free waive deposit for me and the usage of plan doesnt really affect me much .

but by checking forum ( iphone thread) and their everyday new application from apple site is really tempting and tolerate sad.gif the desire of swapping my credit card just got stronger and stronger ~

so finally the iPhone is here.
still waiting for this june/july for the next version of iPhone, coz currently dont have any budget to get it now anyway (can't afford now). planning to replace my 1st gen iPhone in months.

btw the plan is ok for me, but hope months later when the next iPhone released, there will be a plan that's tied with unlimited data but without minutes included. and normal Value Plus is an add on to the unlimited plan. i'm quite a heavy data user (3GB isn't enough for me, plus it will be great if we can tether using iPhone rite?), while i'm also more into the Value80 plan (in fact i'm previously on V80 + Data before ported out to other telco). and 1 year contract is ok for me.

i'd rather like if the plan is unlimited data with addon of Value Plus instead of current maxis plan that needs u to add data to the existing i-Value plan (if u r a heavy data user). but i can only wish rite. but yeah, looks like i'll still get an iPhone with maxis this june/july either way.

For i-value RM100 usage , RM50 for voice where RM50 for Data. How about SMS? which will deduct from the Voice (RM50)??

But.. who knows... you may need to wait for another 6-12 months or more , for maxis to import the newer model ?
