My friend had a problem with her Maxis iPhone, she claimed her warranty unit and it's a refurbished unit. It's better than my new unit in terms of build quality.

Then how you know her 5XX better than your 8XX in term of build quality? Example pls...

It has been proven in some cases that refurbished units are better than new units. She is my friend, so I get to hold hers and compare it with mine.

Added on June 14, 2009, 6:10 pmApple engineers put more time to assemble the product properly thus the percentage of hardware issues are small, rather than assembling it in a large quantity in the factory where QC is not being done at all units.

Only Maxis supports the warranty, not Apple.

Can you snap the picture of the disc? Just wanna see how's it.

Btw, OT.

Streamyx is having real serious problems with the internet, no one has the mood to stay online.

Wahahaha, your imaginery maxis girl thing again.

By the way, I got my CD already and that was right after replying few posts before hehehe... nothing really special with it. But after going through the CD content and printed materials, I guess I understand the reason behind this. Not many people is as techie as we are. Guess Maxis's target consumers are the average mobile user and these users don't usually have a clue on how to update and most would just flock into Maxis center like they would to SE, Nokia centers for firmware upgrade.

So providing a CD complete with instructions are a good thing. Not many people use iTunes and of course without iTunes their iPhone is a phone without iPod. Probably they don't sync often. And they won't get the update message. I'm sure we've seen a lot of newbies asking how to update to 3.0. So Maxis is really doing themselves a favor and avoiding potential tech support calls. Or probably they realize with their 'special prices' on their plans, this is the least they can do to give a good impression to their customers.

Of course, it doesn't make sense to us cause we already know.

Yes, that's what I thought. The CD is meant for those who new with the iPhone and doesn't know much on how it works. This CD is targeted to those who buy the iPhone just to show it off and not even know how to use it.

Yes, apparently this is a very common issue for the iPhone 3G and it's much more obvious on the white one.

Maxis's iphone is really expensive. I think, it is better if we wait 3-4 months before other competitor come out with a better deal.

is the package good? i mean, anywhere you go, you still could access 3G? or there still cons?

3G coverage so far is okay in my place, it may vary though. Depends on where you live and your location as well.

It comes with receipt when you buy your iPhone from Maxis.
