QUOTE(laughing_tomato @ May 2 2009, 09:22 PM) I think I will go for the iValue 1 plan.... 1 year contract... than I switch plan... the plan is not that good after all.... Does not include sms and I will have to pay extra for the sms, RM0.15/sms ... Though, there a extra value added service where you pay RM8 for 500 sms (Maxis to Maxis)... Going to get one this coming week.... I am using iValue 1 myself Added rM 8 for SMSes , overall its okay. now I am making use of it fully. I dont call , but now I call people and sms them - using up my minutes for the sake of doing so ! The 500MB data is worth it for google maps and for emergency internet usage !

QUOTE(michael9413 @ May 14 2009, 06:03 PM) haha... they wan to push all phones out b4 the new launching??? mostly i think... my fren in SG ask me to wait for early of June... or be specific 8th of June... In the conference they will announce the new Iphone firmware and also model woh... shit scratching my head now... buy now or how??? Depending on you The new one would look nice , but honestly if you're looking for a simple phone + kick-ass iPod , I wouldn't hesitate to the current generation. In fact even iPhone 2G does well !

Maxis is trying to get rid of their old stocks. They got the contract at the wrong time. Anyhow , they have managed to secure some of its customers for a long time. If you come and think about it , its worth it (if you're lite user like me who makes use of 500MB data on the go). I tried of thinking of getting SG unit (but then saving few 100 bucks isn't good)
michael9413, its somewhat wrong to convert like that . RM 1500 here and RM 900 there. You must understand Singapore's cost of living , plus take a look at how their plan over there works. Even my Singaporean friend says its overpriced there. Their call rates sucks , you'll be charged for incoming calls (notice there it says outgoing only not for incoming). So do your maths and see.
People just seem to get carried away when iPhone is cheaper in country x and country y. Its a different case if you want to buy the iPhone outside instead of Maxis and would like to save money and so on

QUOTE(mac.tay @ May 16 2009, 09:47 PM) 1 good point buying SG set is can disable data access @ cellular data network from menu. maxis set is disabled to access this function. if u using maxis SIM, sure u hammer with data charges, if u not taking iValue/data plan which bundled with free data. juz sharing my exp, n i'm using SG set but i got free data 500MB/mth bcoz i signed up iphone on behalf for fren to get iphone Provided if you jailbreak and over-write the carrier file , you can disable data services , if you want to...

$99 in states is with contract and you're not able to swap the sim. For Maxis if they sell it at RM 1,000 its not worth it. Thats why you don't see any cheap phones because our law prohibits a teleco to lock a phone , otherwise we'll be enjoying cheap phones
Maxis would certainly cut prices to get more people to upgrade or buy the low-end phone
Anyway those who bought iPhone 3G from Maxis , its still worth it. Its not a major upgrade (like from 2G to 3G , its just some minor touches here and there)
