There are two, I believe, because each and every localised Apple regional website are maintained separately by the differing countries. Apple.com is the one maintained by Apple themselves, our Malaysian webpage is maintained by Apple Malaysia, and since Apple Malaysia knows about the local iPhone launch more intimately than Apple HQ, it has not been updated. The news about our local launch picked up by Macworld and iLounge are mainly feeds submitted by readers who knew about the launch locally. Apple HQ either still dont know about this, or will update it later.

Or, the worse case scenario, Maxis's position as an appointed telco isnt recognized at all, and they are banking on Singapore for their units, hence launch still under the name of Singtel/Singapore as "official available now". Makes you think why "Malaysia" wasn't on the "Coming Soon" list before too either isn't it?

and for the LYN bunch, we are just blessed with the abundant amount of sellers here competing for our cheapness,
while the rest which is not aware of this forum or other similar forums are just gonna fork out the money for maxis' "cheap plans"
so when u say people have more sense, some will just think of the options available in front of them, and not like u and me sitting down and spamming in the forums

if its locked to ur phone number that's f*cking sick wei! honestly i don't give a sh*t that maxis (or any telco for that matter's) bringing da iphone in. it truly isn't difficult 2 buy an iphone here in m'sia (whether u buy locked/unlocked) there's so many 2nd hand units for sale everywhere, u can buy it new or 2nd hand in almost every h/p shop, or u can even just buy it from our forummers. the only thing that appeals to me by a local telco officially lanuching the iphone's that i'm sure our local stores are really gonna beef up on the iphone accessories =)  now THAT'S a good thing for sure! hopefully we'll start seeing new accessories very soon. most stores i go into sell the same old sh*t as their neighbors. not much choice really. fingers x'd

alright, i have further information regarding the maxis bound iPhones. the unit that my friend has, is labeled as a demo unit and bears the part/serial number of MB504ZA/A.

this number does not match any from the list and this could (remember could!) rule out of the possibility of maxis getting their units from singapore (SingTel)

anybody already get the iphone from MAXIS?
can use on other SP like DIGI, CELCOM, UMOBILE?

if it's true that to date maxis only sold 11,000 units, then they still have stocks about 139,000 units. in terms of value that's RM139 million (assuming maxis cost is at dirt cheap of RM1,000 per unit). at this rate they will lucky if maxis can sell another 50,000 units. if the maxis new plans doesn't push sales, i'm sure another plan will be introduced or maybe maxis may just reduced the price. if we can be patience for another 1 or 2 months, we maybe we'll in for some better deals from maxis. i maybe wrong but only time will tell. anyway not able to use iphone now does not make your life miserable, no money makes my life miserable.

its inevitable for us to compare prices, even with neighboring country (i don't dare to uses the taboo word S**g**l). it help us decide whether we want to buy iphone from maxis. In my opinion that's not off topic.
