for PIM information, calendar, sms, contacts, the usual, i highly recommend PIM Back up. Its free, and extremely reliable, and we senior PDA owners have been using for ages. and it never fails us. smile.gif

Sorry, I just couldn't resist asking brows.gif

we senior PDA owners by this, do you mean

a) by age
b) by the number of postings
c) by extensive experience in PDA usage

I would very well qualify if it is a)

No malice intended. We all need a break from this hectic world biggrin.gif

hi, i got my Omnia d,
exploring it now.

may i know how to set the "X" at the right-hand upper corner as "close application" ?
now i press it, it put the application to background only.
*
The is no provision in WM to close an application with the X. It will only minimize. You need a third party program, like HandySwitcher, to close it with the X. Of course Task Manager can close it.

icon_question.gif  wan to install Iphone theme, but too complicated d, no time to do so, easier method?  tongue.gif )

For GPRS you can go to the internet, eg Maxis, and configure your GPRS/3G settings.
For WiFi, ensure that the Data Encryption at your device matches that of the wifi modem you are trying to connect. The Data Encryption differs for different modem.
For GPS, it is a lo...............ng and tedious process to get it working.

Hi all,

I just brought an Omnia 8GB, I'm totally new to PDA phone... please bear with me sad.gif

Here is my phone version:
PDA: i900DXHJ1/DZHJ1
PHONE: i900DXHJ1

1. Is my phone version ok, is it latest?
2. I found it very hard to press on the "scroll bar" to scroll up/down, hafto try many times than only can work... anyone face the same problem?
3. Is there any better way (shortcut) to close the open windows/application instead press the "X" or "OK" at top right of the screen? I know i can press the "end call" button but it bring me to the main page
4. When I read SMS, it auto show the reply window, how to disable it?

Sorry, if some of the question is already being answered, please ignore them and let me know i will search the forum

Thats for now..

Thank you
*
1. No

2. You need to increase the thickness of scrollbars to enable your finger to grip the button. To change the thickness of the scrollbars at the right/bottom of documents larger than default
For the horizontal (bottom) scrollbar:
HKLM\System\GWE\cyHScr = 9 (DWORD decimal)
For the vertical (right) scrollbar:
HKLM\System\GWE\cxVScr = 9 (DWORD decimal)
The default thickness is 13. You can set the value to anything you may like

3. To create shortcut to Close (minimize) goto Settings>Personal>Buttons and assign one of the Buttons to OK/Close. You cannot use the X button to terminate a program without third party program like HandySwitcher.

4. You need to turn off the auto deploy of the keyboard.
HKCU\ControlPanel|Sip
TurnOffAutoDeploy=dword:1

I remember WinMob 6.0 has this option in Setting to either hold on X to close the application but seems missing in WinMob 6.5.
*
I believe that the original WM 6.0 or 6.1 does not have this function. The function is bundled together by only certain phone manufacturer, like HTC. Good function to have biggrin.gif

Edit registry or use third party Tweak/Tune program, like SKTools to do it

hi,
i refer here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419414
to install Iphone skin.

i know must install Spb first,
and Spb is already installed successfully and working nicely,
but the instruction there stated:

Instructions
- This theme requires a bit of small tweaking to set up
- Copy all files to your SPB Mobile Shell folder on your PPC, then soft reset
So i just follow it, copy all files to SPB folder, then do soft reset,
but fail, after soft reset, the Spb still nothing change.
can u help me clarify how?  laugh.gif
tq.
*
You are suppose to replace the installed Spb files with the iPhone skin files. Your PC or PPC will caution you that you are replacing those files. If you don't get the CAUTION, you are not doing it right, ie REPLACING not just pasting those files.

Core Player and Garmin can be relocated but not by Cut & Paste method. You need third party program like SKTools to move these programs as it involves changing the registries as well.

Try this. It is the best method to align your Omnia screen.

1. Open your Registry Editor
2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/HARDWARE/DEVICEMAP/TOUCH/
3. Click on CalibrationData
4. Value Data change to > 519,503 177,881 182,129 847,127 849,872
5. Click OK to save it.

Try another SIP to see whether it has the same problem or not. It could be caused by software not hardware.

You need to configure the settings correctly at your device. In particular the Authentication & Data Encryption MUST match that of the wireless modem you are trying to connect with. The Authentication and Data Encryption differs for different modem.

The SPB Mobile Shell 3.0 runs very well on my Omnia DXIA5.
Fast and nice UI. rclxms.gif
