Guys,

I just got my iPhone today. I've been fooling around on the 3G data a bit, but ... it's slow, man. Is maxis 3g just really slow? Just wondering if it's maxis or if my settings are off somewhere.

Quick question > Is the iPhone OS designed for multitasking?

For example in my previous Symbian phone, I can run the GPS in the background while typing an sms and have the gmail symbian app checking my mail as well, and I can switch between all 3 apps without closing either.

I can't figure out how to do that with my iPhone though. Like if I have fring running, and I want to go to check my Facebook, it seems like Fring closes and disconnects me from all my IM logins.

Also I need to just say that 1) the battery life is bad, and 2) the position of the speakers is too easy to totally block with one finger when holding the phone in landscape. Otherwise, loving my iPhone so far & no regrets for the price paid.

Got ah, in the apps discussion thread there was one Malaysian developer with a Sudoku app for $0.99. Don't remember the poster name / app name though. I don't sudoku at all though cos I suck with numbers >_<

What do you guys think about iPhone accessories ... should we wait a bit for the official stuff to be available? I'm thinking of getting a car charger and/or FM radio transmitter. And maybe a car dock as well.

I just noticed that the Safari google page defaults to google.com.sg (using a Singtel set). Any way to change it to default to google.com.my?

Right on both counts. Changing my region format to Thailand made Safari's Google to auto go to google.co.th. But there's no Malaysia available

Any of you managed to get tether working with 2.2.1?

I'm using google'd instructions, already installed/ran 3proxy & terminal, but I get stuck at the "open safari and browse to random page" step.

In theory Safari is supposed to eventually switch to 3G browsing when it realizes wifi isn't getting it anywhere, but in my case Safari just gives up without switching to 3g. Wonder what I'm doing wrong ...

If you're planning on keeping your iPhone really pristine, you'll end up buying a case of some sort which will cover the phone anyway, so there's no difference

Any of you guys have uh ... oily fingers / oily face by nature?

For me seriously oil on the screen is a huge problem. Don't even need to talk that long also the screen looks like there was an oil tanker accident nearby.

And it's annoying cos normal cloth / tissue / whatever doesn't really clean up the oil, it just spreads it around ...
