This morning when I woke up, my iphone was turned off. And when I tried switching it on, it was stuck at the screen where Steve Jobs stretching out his arms with the word NPEBEA and it wont boot. What is going on here and what can I do about it?

I tried the solution, but it needs me to restore. Does that mean i need to restore to the latest firmware? I'm using FW 2.2 now. And how about the data? Will i lose them?
