I did a clean restore so it should be back to the ori file no? I did patch btw...

Added on November 24, 2008, 6:31 pmNope...just tried to replace with the original just in case. Didn't work. I'm guessing some jb app is conflicting with my phone. I'm troubleshooting now and it seems like this only occurs after I reinstall all my jb apps. I'm trying to figure out which app.

Right, I'm recompiling some info I accidentally found yesterday while browsing around. The following guide is for those on FW2.2 who want emoji functions without having to jailbreak their phone. Credits given to [http://sasa.main.jp/emoji/]. There are separate methods for Windows and Mac users.

For Mac Users:

Step 1
Download the vcard.vcf file which I have re-hosted here.

Step 2
Import the vcard.vcf file using iTunes and sync accordingly.

Step 3
On your iPhone, open up the vcard (located in your address book) and tap on “Add All 27 Contact Information Items”.

Step 3
Congratulations. You can now enable emoji (Settings > General > Keyboard > Japanese > QWERTY) and proceed to use in SMS, Notes, etc.

For Windows Users (also applicable to Mac users):

Step 1
Download the vcard.vcf file which I have re-hosted here.

Step 2
Attach the vcard.vcf file to an email and send it to an account; preferably one that you use with the Mail app on your iPhone.

Step 3
On your iPhone, open up the vcard.vcf file from the email you sent and tap on “Add All 27 Contact Information Items”.

Step 3
Congratulations. You can now enable emoji (Settings > General > Keyboard > Japanese > emoji) and proceed to use in SMS, Notes, etc.

---

Note : Using this method seems to give you a limited capability of emoji. Instead of getting a gui emoji keyboard like you're supposed to, you will need to manually access the 27 sets of emoji characters by typing in a command (emoji, emojia, emojib, emojic etc...) while you are typing your msg. Thnx nokia2003 for pointing it out at 3.30 in the morning. tongue.gif bro nokia2003 has come up with a alternative guide that incorporates the email method above and also explains this latter part of how to use the emoji if you applied the non jb method. You can access his guide here.

Fingers crossed ...my iPhone seems to finally be working after upgrading to fw2.2. It's been 3 days of troubleshooting...heh...

I have not installed SwirlyMMS for now as it seems to crash my Contacts and SMS app. Anyone who can report similar conflict with SwirlyMMS would be greatly appreciated.

This is my current jb app list that works fine with 2.2:

- SBSettings
- OpenSSH
- biteSMS
- Cycorder
- MxTube
- MIM (Make It Mine)
- Lockdown
- Categories
- Mobile Terminal
- Winterboard

BossPrefs works fine too. BigBoss already updated both BossPrefs and SBSettings to work with 2.2 two days ago. You'll only see both not working properly initially for Wi-Fi + 3G because the on/off status is not correct. Simply turn on and off and on again the toggle for Wi-Fi + 3G using either BossPrefs or SBSettings and it should work perfect after that.
