you can update it anytime if u bought it officially from Vodafone NZ.
no and u shouldnt install yellosnow at all....as it is unlock straight out of the box set.

hmm it should be normal if ur iPhone's battery don't last that long when it is new, coz u tend to use it more often when it is new (e.g. exploring the phone)

NZ Vodafone use to lock their APN setting as well (did the same experiment when i first i got my phone) if u wanna change the APN that way, it is easy, just swap it with another "non-official" service provider sim card (can do it while the phone is on) then go edit the APN setting to anything u want, and then swap back to "official" carrier sim card. Wala APN changed.

Another new method was mentioned in another thread, which is simply to change the .ipcc file via iTunes (Carrier update)

yup, just swap it to the other carrier sim card while it is on. Hopefully Maxis will take out the locking APN thingy via carrier update in near future, like what Vodafone NZ did.

yup, the APN setting will go missing once u switch back to the official carrier sim card i.e. Maxis, but the APN setting that u changed when using other sim cards will still be there.

or the other way is to overwrite the carrier update via iTunes using those .ipcc file found here http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/752226

Lol, I totally understand you nokia2003. Maybe some of the newer users can help answer questions of the even newer (read: who don't read/explore) users. So the 'veterans' can tackle the more serious questions (like mine earlier about disabling EDGE will also disable 3G)  biggrin.gif

disabling EDGE in bossprefs/sbsetting will indeed disable the cellular data, u'll still be on the 3G network, but not able to use 3G cellular data. It is design that way. So if u wanna disable cellular data usage, u will need to disable EDGE in bossprefs/sbsetting and u might as well disable 3G to save battery.
