QUOTE(Phonzy @ Mar 30 2009, 06:27 PM)
Sorry, still don't kinda get it. So it will sync my iPod Touch mp3s into my iPhone? That's what I understand.

The thing is, I don't want them to sync. I have lots of stupid applications in my iTouch and large amount of songs that I do not want to have it go into my iPhone. Is there a way to seperate sync?

Thank you in advance.

Just tick the playlists you want to sync bro.

QUOTE(nokia2003 @ Mar 30 2009, 06:40 PM)
call me rude/arrogant/fu*cked up/arsehole et cetera, but have the questions gone downhill nowadays? just at the brand new thread created moments ago.

@ Phonzy,

for the love of God, just trying to spend like 20 minutes (just 20!), fiddling around the iTunes and everything is there. where is the joy of satisfaction when one manage to figure something by himself/herself?

when you plug in your iPhone (or any iPod devices) there is an option for you to select the desired application that you want to synchronise. i have like 100 over downloaded applications but there are only 15 on my springboard. ringing any bells?

and for the song management aspect, it wouldn't hurt to create playlists.
disclaimer: so this is how it feels like for a bloke to experience PMS.

Lol, I totally understand you nokia2003. Maybe some of the newer users can help answer questions of the even newer (read: who don't read/explore) users. So the 'veterans' can tackle the more serious questions (like mine earlier about disabling EDGE will also disable 3G) biggrin.gif

disabling EDGE in bossprefs/sbsetting will indeed disable the cellular data, u'll still be on the 3G network, but not able to use 3G cellular data. It is design that way. So if u wanna disable cellular data usage, u will need to disable EDGE in bossprefs/sbsetting and u might as well disable 3G to save battery.

I tried to create a ringtone from MP3 (converter to M4R) and my Itunes PC folder is able to detect it but everytime I sync, the phone doesn't detect the ringtone? What can be wrong? Don't tell me I can only import a single ringtone?! This is so tiring, sigh.

double-click on the .m4r file (ringtone), it will open up in iTunes & playing. do the same step for all the ringtones. plug in your iPhone, in the sync window, select 'Ringtones' and click ALL if you want all ringtones in iTunes music library to be synced.

(please ensure the ringtones are in .m4r format and are in Ringtones category of iTunes)

Oh, you mean I have to play the ringtone for it to be successfully detected and sync-ed to the phone?

not neccessary but when you double-click on them (the ringtones), they will automatically be played in iTunes & added to the Ringtones library.

Groups: Drag & Drop Contacts Management

user posted image $2.99

With Groups you can:

1. Create, rename, delete and navigate contact groups - all in a single view!

2. Drag & Drop contacts into groups. Tap and hold on a Contact to start dragging.

3. *Use it as a Group Mailer. Send Mass Email to any Group. Tap and hold on a Group name to see available options.

4. Dial, SMS, Email and visit URL/Map Locations of individual contacts by tapping on their name for quick dialing (i.e. use it as a mini-dialer)

5. Use 5 built-in ready to use and helpful 'Smart Groups' to help categorize and manage your contacts the way you wish. These automatically filter on contacts that 1) aren't part of any group, 2) have No Name set, 3) have No Email, 4) have No Phone or 5) have No Image.

6. Trash (and preserve) contacts by dragging them to the 'Trash' Group. This would delete the contact permanently from the iPhone/iPod touch and then from your Computer when Synced or Pushed but will allow you to drag these back to normal groups, and thus restore them at a later point, unless you empty the Trash.

7. Keep your contacts and groups in sync with the built in Address Book, your Laptop or Mobile Me.

Your address book, too, deserves respect. Groups is the only contact grouper tool you'll ever need.

* Note: A Mass 'SMS Contacts' option will be added to Groups as a Free update as soon as the iPhone includes support for this feature as it currently does not. Also, Email will be sent using the Mail app on your iPhone/iPod Touch.

* Also Note: Currently the iPhone SDK does not allow assigning ring-tones to contacts or groups thus this will be made available once support for this is added to the SDK.

Retweet Free for 24 Hours

user posted image

There are A LOT of Twitter apps in the App Store, but this one is different from the rest. It’s a really great idea and for the next 24 hours, or so, it’s free. It’s really simple. It lists the top retweeted tweets and lets you retweet them yourself. That’s it! You can sort them by the last 3, 6, 12, or 24 hours and each tweet shows the original tweeper and how many times it’s been retweeted. There’s a refresh button in the top right and you can scroll down to load more. A must have for all Twitter apps is the built in web browser, which it has. The only thing it really needs is the option to edit the retweet before you send it. This may defeat the purpose of the app because if the tweet isn’t exactly the same, it can’t track it, but it would be a nice option.

plug in your iPhone and with your iTunes opened, you can see a tab above which says "photos".

you can figure out the rest by yourself.

attention to all users,

i wish to retract a previous statement of mine; that is a policy of mine to respond to all PMs received in regards to iPhone (may it be suggestions, help, feed back et cetera).

as of today, i will no longer do that anymore. the reason is simple; i have been getting numerous PMs from the users here (sometimes the questions are down right straightforward and clearly available on the pinned threads) and it is beginning to become a nuisance.

i reckon that i shouldn't be feeding this bad habit. on the other hand, i will instead try to assist as much as i could within my capacity, to those in need (provided that they are posted in the correct channel i.e. by not creating new threads for no apparent reason).

so please do not PM me anymore in regards to iPhone questions (however those who are keen to share views/foster new friendships, please do not hesitate to do so biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif )

i will also try to help davidgary73 to ease his burden moderating this sub-forum and i sure do hope that you guys can rally your support towards him as well.

this statement will also be repeated at the first post of this thread.
