POC Wave 2 Mini Review----------------------------
This is my sole opinion hence you may disagree with me .But it's my review so I can write what i want .
I love wave 1's lineup ,well almost all of them save for CC .
Bout a month plus later ,wave 2 was available at our local toy shops .
While wave 1 consists of 8 different figures ,wave 2 has just 6 and just like wave 1,
one figure is the least likeable in terms of sculpting and accesories .This time around ,the victim is
none other than SE .
Now ,all 4 waves of POC will have one potential peg warmer and being the least likeable .
Wave 1 = CC ,wave 2 = SE ,wave 3 = SS and wave 4 = Shadow Tracker
Let's start with the least likeable figure and work our way to the top .
Snake Eyes-------------
The Good : Comes with CS SE head .
The figure is great for custom fodder .
The Bad : Tornado kick gimmick .I've played around with the gimmick ,and it's pretty straightforward .
Twist the waist for a good few turns anti clockwise ,press the button located on the lower left waist
and lo and behold! ,SE does the helicopter kick .
Also ,unlike wave 1 SS's accesories and weapons ,there's nothing on SE's that excites me one bit .
Verdict : As with before ,buy if you're a SE fan ,else skip this guy and wait for wave 3 SE .
Recondo----------
The Good : He comes with a couple of new features .
The first being the backpack and the second being the "jaw traps".
It's nicely detailed with all sorts of doohickey stuff molded onto it .
Both antennas swivels left to right and there's pegs to store both traps .
Now there's a gimmick for the pack .Notice the red button ?
- Press and hold with one finger while with the other finger ,pull out the black piece connector ,which is
held by a short line of string (bout 4" long).
- Next ,connect the connector piece with one of the jaw traps and attach any figure's foot onto the peg .
- Press the button on the backpack and it retracts the string and the trap .
Kinda cheesy but it's an extra effort by Hasbro so I'm all for it .
One alternative use for this retractable trap is to leave the string out while the trap is clamped on the
victim's foot .Hence ,you can drag your prisoner along while he is reluctantly walking or lying horizontally
with his butt kissing the dirt or mud .
The Bad : His bonnie hat cannot fit snugly on his bald head .
The sculping of his neck is different from most Joe figures as it's curved forwards instead of being vertical .
Hence ,most of the time ,Recondo looks down .My suggestion is to adjust the head slightly upwards
and ,problem solved .
Verdict : Not a must buy but if you like gimmicks ,then do so .
Arctic Destro-------------
The Good : Surprisingly ,Destro has a "cool" feature .
Again ,like Recondo it has to do with his backpack .
The gun squirts out water when the oversized red button on the pack is pressed .
He comes with a nice looking ice drill and two frozen ice effects .
The Bad : I'm not really a fan of arctic based figures but I have no complaints for Destro .Well none thus far .
Verdict : I was going to place Destro 2nd last but the feature bumped him up one spot .It reminds me of the
younger years when I had Eco Warrior Cesspool and used to fill his pack with water and squirting
away .Ah ,the good old days .
Dusty------
The Good : Dusty is one of my favorite all time Joe .Probably due to him being a desert trooper .
Never own a vintage version and was unable to get the 25th DVD Pack Dusty ,so I'm glad he gets chosen
for POC line .
Comes with an alternate head ,tattered cape ,two guns and a roll of barb wire .
I would prefer a backpack than the barb wire .There's no peg to remove His belt / pouches but by
unscrewing the legs ,you can yank it off .
His regular head also comes with removable helmet and goggles while his alternate futuristic head has
goggles covering the eyes .You can peel off the goggles gently as it's made of soft rubber ,revealing
nicely painted pair of eyes and eyebrows .
The Bad : He's rather short on accesories .
Verdict : Buy one as he makes a good addition to your desert troopers .Also ,the alternate head is awesome .
Zartan-------
The Good : Just like DUsty ,he comes with an alternate head (Sandstorm) with removable goggles .
Also there's a staff and an eagle ,I believe .Or is it a hawk ?
There's a facemask covering the creature's eyes to prevent it from flying away ??
The figure also includes a working sling bag and there's space for storing his extra head or perhaps his
rifle ?
The Bad : I like this new adaptation of Zartan .
His swords are stored inside the waist sash but I would prefer sheathes instead ,for realism sake .
Verdict : This guy is not likely to end up as peg warmers ,not so obvious unlike his ROC offering .
The moment I saw Zartan months ago ,he reminds me of one Cobra Agent by the name of Raptor .
Below ,I've customed an easy modern era Raptor .
Jungle Viper--------------
The Good : An all new figure ,this guy comes with a lot of accesories ,akin to Wave 1's Alley Viper .
However ,most of the stuff combine to form his ghillie camouflage outfit .
Both pistols can be stored inside the holsters .
The suit can be posed in a variety of ways ,either when the JV is in lying down or squatting or standing
position .
Also includes a oversized Lahti L-39 ,anti tank rifle (used back in WW2) .It comes in 3 separate parts ;the
gun itself ,the barrel and a pair of "skis" to support its weight .
He has ADDITIONAL ARTICULATION on both wrists .
The Bad : The backpack is kinda loose ,most likely due to supporting the overall weight of the suit .
Verdict : Buy one ,or two or more to build an army of JVs .There's two per case hence it's easier to troop build .
New concept ,badass looking especially when fully geared and the fact that he slightly resembles the
classic Night Viper due to the extended night scope .
Pics tomorrow ...
