nVidia is benefiting from CUDA & Physx. sad.gif

its not a proven technology yet. just prototype.
not yet a proven technology.

if physX is proven benefit in gaming, ATI also will start doing it, wit havoc.

but ATI always BETTER IQ
choose which one ? rclxub.gif

this might be true if u look @ older generation card like the geforce 7.

but now, the IQ of nvidia & ati GPU produces is equally good.

seems like now how much bit is not important anymore like b4.. eg; GTX gc got 512bit and more but still kalah with new 128bit gc.. nowadays gc technology becomes more complex.. smile.gif
*
dun get confused.

the RV740 128 bit refers to 4750 (2 version, ddr3/5), not 4890.
4890 is 256 bit, ddr5.

bandwidth of the card is calculated by it s GPU supported bit & also memory speed.
example, 4870 wit 256 bit & fast ddr5 actually has more bandwidth den gtx260 (448 bit) wit slower ddr3.

ATI & nvidia opted for different die strategy.
because GPU with higher width (bits) also means bigger die, it will be mor expensive to produce to produce.

Well..The original price should be RM 800~1000..
I hope they pulls HD 4870 512MB and replace it with HD4890 512MB..Same goes to 1GB biggrin.gif
*
well, according to current exchange rate of 3.64, USD239 shud translate to ~ RM870.
which begs the question, zhen wei setting HIS 4890 1gb @ 1090, dat shud b a non reference price....................
& the price of 512mb is USD199, do the math.

4890 cooler than 4870. load temp 70-75C only.
*
dis is b coz there bit different for the reference cooler.

4870 heatsink uses 2 8mm heat pipe, where 4890 uses 1 8mm & 2x6mm, total 3.
in terms of fan speed, for the 4890 bios, ATI adjust it sightly higher den 4870, dats y it is cooler & noisier.

Any proof for that? Guru3d shows that(by comparing two reviews, though the other review uses a different setup) 4870 and 4890 noise level is pretty much the same. Plus, a slight increase in fan speed and an extra heat pipe can't explain for a 20~25C drop in chip temperature. It's the chip itself. Check the slides about the chip doh.gif .
Here's a noise table. This one uses the same setup for all cards.

*
http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardw...b-review-8.html

bit different wit heatsink.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Sapphire/HD_4890/28.html

of coz, the bios fan speed can be tune by different manufacture, but the default bios by ATI, which use on sapphire, is quite noisy.

u can argue, yeah, may b the chip has improvement as well, but i'm sure ATI change the heatsink & fan speed for some reason as well.

The point is, the noise level is the same. 4890 is as noisy(or as quiet) as 4870. I wasn't talking about your heatsink statement, I was talking about the noise. My fault for not cutting off the other parts except for the bolded part I guess.
*
yes, i know.

modified heatsink = better heat dissipation

heatsink + fan speed + tweak chip = temperature improvement
may b all the factors contributes together & ended up as a cooler card.

i did not rule out dat new chip improves temperature condition, & u also shouldn't rule out dat new heatsink and fan speed tweak as well.
as i pointed out earlier, i'm sure ATI does the minor tweak for some reasons.
