Actually before coming to LYN garage sales thread I never heard of Onitsuka Tigers before. It's quite a low profile brand i think because i seldom see their commercial on penang . So I think it's not easy to find a fake to make comparison . Btw, if anyone did manage to find a fake OT can try post a comparison here.

Its not a low profile brand. Maybe its just that we're slow a lil. Some of us i mean

there are HEAPS of onitsuka fakes.

first to tell the difference is the back of the shoes. some tigers have flaps. most fakes have flaps that are glued to the back of the shoes

and the stitching of the asaics logo. usually fake ones have heaps of gum.

the sole of the shoes is most distinct. quality is very noticable.

The thing is...brand is how people perceive it. So it could be popular in the UK, but it would mean nothing here in Msia.

I assume those OT shoes sell at Pavillion, Ecko Park, etc which I normally go is original one.
I haven't see a fake AAA quality one, which I heard is available in KL too.

The quality is so bad even my mom can differentiate it.

From my understanding of OT. I thought the material quality is distinct enough to tell whether its real or fake. OT uses really good quality soft leather.

I have not experience any AAA fakes before. But do they use as good of a quality? Can anybody clarify this?

Hey guys, I just got back from Time Square. There's one boutique there beside Converse boutique selling OT at below market price. E.g: Mexico 66 only RM299. Anyone came across there before? Is it authentic or fakes? Many brands there are cheap compare to other shopping complex like Converse too.

djduzker is sifu in OT.. he can tell by juz looking at the pic.
most basic to spot fake ot is the color line up, sometimes the color doesnt even have in the ori OT line up.
but wat can i say. i already bought 1 fake. damn.. coz the color nice hahah

not much people can afford for dis shoe actually, jus imagine... around 300 bucks u jus get a basic shoe... honestly OT is a branded brand... hmmm but maybe not in penang yettt i dunno y... i think u shud try to use dis OT shoe, den trust me u will get a billion follower there...ahakkks

not because its expesive. main reason not many ppl wearing this shoe is because it is hard to find at the first place. even in KL only 3-4 places got selling this.

OT got popular nowadays because of the availability of the fakes, not the authentics.

i truly agree with dat...u can see OT everywhere here in KL...b4 this the fake one were terribly made..but now u can see fake that are almost the same..u juz got to see them carefully...

my fren bought mini tiger from danau before raya n the seller told us dat it was original n he even succeed in convincing us...mini tiger for 190..got also other tiger but mostly mexico 66...he told us that the tigers were from vietnam...the quality is very good,leather sumore for the tiger writing at the back n i almost buy i pair also...although i have 1 that i bought from star360..i still can't differentiate between original n AAA fakes...now,i juz seldomly wear my tiger bcoz they are everywhere now....sigh

Are you sure its not popular in Penang? I have been wearing OT shoes for 3 years plus now. I buy all of them from authorized dealer in Queensbay and Gurney Plaze.

I am not sure why people will buy from unknown sources or dealer just to save less than Rm50. Is it worth the risk?

Anyway, as far as i know in Penang, mall like Island Plaza, Queensbay and Gurney Plaza do not have fake branded item. Am i right?

Btw, i know you very clever and are the only Sifu in OT here which can spot a "fake". thats why you can dupe people money by selling fake OT, right? For the rest of us who "lack knowledge", i think we rather pay few bucks more to get from authorized dealer than getting dupe by people like you.
