Why do my dog always howl whenever old newspaper guy pass by? Same thing goes to ice cream seller or roti seller??

One more thing is eventhough we know him well, he always still trying to sniff us when we comeback..

Dogs always howl when the newspaper guy comes along, it's either

a) the sound of the newspaper is too loud and high and hurts their ears, or
b) its a wolf pack instinct, when the newspaper guy is howling, they howl too to show the size of their pack (family) is bigger.

You will notice if you have 2-3 dogs, they all howl at a different note to prove there are so many individual 'wolves' in their pack

yup, both my dogs will just start howling like crazy....so irritating.....

They like to bark in the wee hour too. My hse upstair got one dog then down got two lagi. Both 3 of them like to talk early in the morning one. Damn!

Summore if other neighbour dog set loose lagi teruk. When they see the dog walking pass, they will bark like no tomolo.

my mongrel dog howl whenever surau sembahyang time, old newspaper, and at any sound that comes out from loud speaker. so minimum 5 times per day as surau just behind my house

The sound is high pitch causing irritation to your dogs ....

It's a very weird behaviour but it doesn't affect all dogs. My dad used to have 2 dogs...
The mongrel howls when she hears the old news paper recording but the purebred Rotweiller doesn't seem to care at all.

Actually you could stop them from howling, scold your dog whenever you spotted it howling.

My neighbour's dog does that, my dogs wanted to follow, I scold them and they never follow that dog after that.
