so far RA3 to me is the most enjoyable RTS in a long while.

nowadays i play skirmish so often. like it for fast games, if i want slow games i play Sup Comm FA.

Yea... weird... anyways, i'll prefer get the retail once its out.. as i always prefer physical copy, wanna fill up my games rack.. heh

Talking abt fast game in mp, isn't DoW2 its the one?... considering u dont build structures and straight into combat..

TSB confirm no physical copy, and he mention tsb selling something like a card contain a CD-Key for Uprising. Just hope they can burn us a disc and no nid use EA downloader for download

DoW2 is considered as damn fast game.

Comparing to DoW2,RA3 is whole lot slower.

DoW2 also got structures mah, just that fuiyoh too fast for my liking la.

If i not mistaken, DOW2 is more RPG best. However i heard it's still an awesome game.

How bour Red Alert rpg? Hurm..... Tanya or Natasha lvl. 80? Apocs or mirage tank or Athena Canon customized?? Only can only use customizedable units to fight ur way through behind enemy lines? There will be like upgrade store to upgrade ur units or wat?

One of the thing I loved in the old C&C Generals was the customization of your troops. Like if I remember well (been a while now I havent played CCG) you could choose which weapons to put on your tanks, add a anti-infantry turrets, another main gun etc.
I kinda expected to see that again in RA3 but nope.

It was a choice between more troops without custom or less numerous highly equipped ones.
That was something I would love to see again, more micro but it added a nice touch to the game.

DOW2 is really different from RA3 yar, DOW is small scale and very fast even compared to RA3.

I know abt that, but isn't someone said the retail box will be out later after the launch?.. maybe a few mths later after the launch... no ah?..

Allied biggest aircraft the halfbringer also lose to Yuriko Omega....LOL
no need any bullet can bring the aircraft down instantly.

Gigafortess in flying mode also same...1 click instand bring it crash into land...kaboom

2. Mecha-Tengu (jet mode)

wah you say like can customize so many but actually only a few units la, like say battle bus (GLA), dragon tank (China) and black hawk (US). I think got a few, may have added Zero Hour into the list

but in RA3 you still can do that with the IFV. i don't recall doing that for the other factions (sov and empire).

Yar, I mostly remembered the really big tanks you could customize with additional speakers, weapon etc. Guess that was the dragon tanks (it has been a long while since I have not played so it's kinda blurry )

The IFV is not really "customizing" as you need to produce the other infantry then drop it in etc. but yar, it's quite similar in the result.

Just that's actually one of the only thing I remember from CCG and it was something I really liked at that time, wish they could have added more of it in RA3.


I think I am gonna buy Uprising but the download itself is kinda scary with our shitty tmnet >_<

hehe, now that you mentioned.

the nice thing about C&C - G is that there's the UPGRADE option.

for example, Dragon tank........ oh wait, I think that one called Overlord la. Dragon Tank i think is the one throwing flames. whatever, that massive tank you have 3 upgrades, bunker, gattling and speaker. i like having 5 of them together. 2 gattling, 2 bunker and 1 heal.

then of course the China heli also have upgrade options.

thats the helix. it was like unstoppable if u upgrade them with speaker tower, gattling, maybe bunkers with rpgs. unless there's tonnes of quad cannon/ the usa laser AA. and the napalm bomb cooldown was like so quick. hover around base, drop napalm, hover around again.

EMP turrets we damn useful against AI. they have path finding problems.

hit the one in front, the rest are all stalled.

its an expansion, wont be as large as vanilla ra3 i think

no, its a stand alone, you dont need ori ra3 to play uprising

i mail tsb and they answer

"The CD-keys expected to arrive on Friday. The client is 5.3GB.
However, we still need to wait for the client to arrive and also to

The client can also be downloaded using EA Download Manager. EA
Download Manager required for product activation."

swt.. its EA downloader... i cant even login that thing, worst than steam

Aircraft Carrier... Not shooting rocket, just sending out planes to bombard target... Either you get close enough, or you need to move around to avoid or minimize the blast

the rocket he mention is the 2nd ability, the EMP thingy... best luck attack with subs or air unit..

Hydrofoil probably tears all air units down... For Allies, best is you have Destroyer, Dolphins, or Riptide around to take him down... Dolphin immune to EMP as advantages...
Cryocopter... Since hydrofoil around, you need your own hydrofoil too...

Soviet... Stingray can destroy surrounding units with 2nd ability fast... Provided hydrofoil didn't weapon jam it... Bullfrog take care of cyrocopter

Empire... Subs and Naginata will do... And sea wing...

But basically if that much cryocopter... Most units you sent will be frost or shrinked into no harm...

hydrofoil if can micro-manage then damn nice. the AA capability is my favourite la, takes down everything so fast.

Except on TSB website you can read:

Not sure when gamers will have the client ready for us to copy... and I might be lazy to go to SS2 to grab it tbh... but if it's that or EA Download Manager..... >_<

Need to pay RM 60 then try to download a whopping 5.3 GB (more than 1 normal DVD!!) ? Alternative is to bring an empty DVD9-R to burn it at TSB..

Errr, shouldn't ori games come in at least a simple DVD case with manual and a good looking non-pirate DVD?

EA, take note from THQ or some other publisher. DoW2 came in this ultra nice DVD case, poster, T-shirt and manual. Left 4 Dead came with mousepad, poster and a huge DVD case. Sins of the Solar Empire came in an awesome DVD case with nice manual and tech tree poster. Worst come to worst do like Valve, just a DVD case, a piece of paper and most importantly the physical copy of the game!!!

Better off buying the "malaysia" version if the ori looks like the Malaysian version.

Dude...the expansion is DLC only...regardless of where u live...be it states or UK or europe...u won't be getting a disk

Welcome to the new world of DLC. Like I always say, combat piracy or not, people will always find ways to beat the system. So do not penalize the people like us who buy original games. These stupid game publishers should grow up already.

I bought Fallout 3 and cannot download the DLC since the Asian version has no patch update to download the DLC. I just abandon any hope of playing the DLC. Some suggest buying ahem version of Fallout 3 and DLC. That is like going backwards already.

So at the end of the day, people who buy illegal copies can play the games, but not us

Remember that in the States or anywhere else in the world....internet connection speeds are top notch.

They can download a 5GB game in less than 10 hours.

Its just that our internet is being throttled by an arse of a ISP so we suffer when we have huge chunks of files to download.

Iayoo, if that is the case the ori game market will koyak and the pirates will be back better than ever.

TSB, I suggest you guys talk to EA bout this digital distribution thing. Tell them it does not work here. Otherwise EA might just make everything DLC and your bread and butter (selling ori EA games) gets eliminated and TSB have NOTHING TO SELL!!! Then in the future TSB goes bankrupt and its back to pirates again

hey guys does this game offer good replayability? or izit the delete-right-after-campaign sort of RTS?

Malaysia must be such a small market for EA they are most probably not going to care if we can or not download, that's our own issue (tmnet, guv and all)

5,3g takes only a couple of hours to download when you have a real internet connection.

When I was in France I had a 25Mb line with free unlimted national phone (VoIP), free astro-like IP tv connection with around 150 channels. I could play World of Warcraft with 30ms lag while downloading like crazy on Emule or uTorrent and watching the TV on the net connection at the same time. All of these for 30 euros per month (around 150rms) unlimited and they provide the big modem box that does all stuff, you only have to plug your phone, tv and computer to it to be all set.

And all of that was 4 years ago, not sure what are the prices and offers now but it can only have improved due to the competition between the different ISPs (this is the BIGGEST difference with Malaysia, competition means ISPs are the one running after you and trying to improve their services to make you stay). From what I heard now the modem box has now an integrated HD and you can record movies on it directly via the tv on IP...

Here we have stupid tmnet with his sucky "fair share" that limit our connection to crap speed and give us crap over crowded IP ranges

It's like two different world, Malaysia is at least 10 years late from Europe (which is nothing "that" impressive compared to Japan or Korea)

I totally agree situation here sucks but I can't really blame EA or Steam to follow the trend of these DLC.

From a marketing point of view it's a smart move, less issues for them (like the distributor forgets to put code in the box like it happened few times recently), less costs without media supports etc.

For Uprising, I will either bit the bullet and download it at nights or wait for a box version, I can wait for a solo campain addon.
TSB is usually very helpful but they do not "have" to do it if it's too troublesome for them

Same as Gormaz. Can't be bothered to download with EA downloader.

After using Steam for DoW2 for a while I find that this online move by EA and Steam is damn good IF you have a proper net connection. So much features like proper patching and able to play your games anywhere as long as you have a connection.

i already play uprising, but suprisingly, there is no giga fotress in the skirmish, maybe i dont discover it yet on naval but i'm sure the giga fotress is only in campaign

i have found giga-fotress
its in imperial dock(eotrs water unit factory)

one words, damn powerfull but moving slow and very expensive

Ok, i just called RSB abt it, they said they will provide dvd (duplicated ones, not those official cool looking ones.. lol) for free, but only available in abt 2weeks time.

So, for now, u can either download it from EA or bring yer external hdd there to copy it from their pc.

Someone here mentioned before, that all the new units can't be use in multiplayer/skrimish, thats one of the reasons alot ppl not really looking forward for the game, esp. those hardcore mp gamers.. heh

Btw, still can co-op in campaign ah?.. coz weird that one of my friends said theres no co-op in Uprising, is it true?..

I think there is no co-op for Uprising Campaign.

Warao.. what a big bummer for this expansion.. its like they took out the new features in mp.

So practically it became just a singleplayer game instead of both singleplayer and multiplayer game (since no new units on it.. so don't really counted that in mp.. heh )... dam...

I might just skipped this one, esp. theres no promo price on this one, and might wait for steam weekend specials (if there one) for it.. lol.. or wait for retail box version (hopefully cheaper that time).. well.. if theres a retail box version.. heh

It's pretty much a SP expansion.Just for SP people who find the first release lacking in SP content.

Same as me,i'll probably wait for Steam then.Tempted to get HAWX from there too.

Yar, I might wait for it to be cheap on Steam or something, no much hurry for a fully SP campain and I have other games to play at the moment.

I am also leaving Msia soon so at least I should have better internet so might be able to get it from Steam directly

Now I wonder how do I pay through Steam, credit card ? :/
