ok, lemme lecture you a bit on BOKEH.
BOKEH is meaningless when you lack in composition! simple as that.
even to bokeh you HAVE to choose the background. distracting bokeh is pointless.
see le BOKEH thread - a lot of the photos there are just to show BOKEH but in terms of compositional value, it's rubbish.
your BOKEH should add to the feel, or it could use to bring additional message.
#1 - no subject, no composition
#2 - no subject, no composition, under-exposed
#3 - no subject, no composition
#4 - good try, need to work on composition. you're getting somewhere
#5 & #6 - good try. again, need to work on composition but you're getting somewhere.
#7 - ehh.......... i see a subject but again, composition. you're getting somewhere.
anyway, let me give you some idea on HOW you can use bokeh..........
goldfries #1 - here, I use bokeh to tell an additional story. Subject being the sashimi while bokeh background, showing people making it!

goldfries #2 - here I use bokeh to bring out the subject, the background? same object but faded, adding to the feel for the subject.

goldfries #3 - here I use bokeh to tell let viewers know where is the place. It doesn't distract but it adds to to the value.

wahh lengthy comments from me but I do hope my sharing is good to not just you, but the rest who are reading.
BOKEH could break your picture if used wrongly. Used correctly, it can be used to tell story, add value to the photos taken.
