Hey there all,

Bought the very own Zitron Blue Tube at Giant Kelana Jaya 2 days ago. Price was at RM1380. They immediately placed free screen protector.  Upon reaching home with it, upgraded the firmware to V20.0.012. Next best thing was having a good antivirus/spyware/firewall/anti-theft program for added protection. Browse thru nokia website. 2 such programs came up, F-secure and symantec. Went to the F-secure website and purchased 1 year antivirus/spyware/firewall/anti-theft for RM186. The tube system to me is very stable, not a single hickup eventhough multiple times of file deleting, transferring and application installed/uninstalled.

Read thru all 38 thread pages in one shot. Got most of the needed info without asking. All thanks to the first few pages. Thanks all for all the info given.... I'm 1 happy nokia/Tube user....

Found an interesting article:
Why you don't need an antivirus on Symbian s60v3/v5

QUOTE
As you may know, S60 3rd Edition is based on Symbian OS 9. One of the new features on this new operating system is Platform Security (PlatSec), which is supposed to protect our devices for malicious programs. One aspect of these changes is the platform security enhancements. These represent an evolution of the existing perimeter security model of Symbian OS and help ensure the stability of the platform, providing even greater protection against malicious or badly-implemented programs. If PlatSec is designed to protect us against malicious programs, do we need an anti virus application? Until today, I havent heard a virus that attacks Symbian OS 9 devices yet. If you check virus definition database from Trend Micro web site, there are some viruses for Symbian OS already, but all of them attack pre-Symbian OS 9 devices.

PlatSec FTW!

I dunno what talking you. Its either the user is too newbie or i am speechless my Nokia phone since 7650 never get virus until this very day. If you dont simply download rubbish u wont get any virus.

Virus always have compatible issue because of the OS keep changing example virus for Symbian OS 9.3 doesnt work on 9.4

Yeah i know RM186 is tad too much. FYI i'm a former TM employee and maintaining systems/equipment and multiple threat from the outside taught me a very valuable advice.

"Having it but not using it rather than needed it but not having it." Better safe than sorry.

For the f-secure review, it worked flawlessly eventhough set on high/aggressive settings. No lags whatsoever.

The more reason why i opt for antivirus program is that the moment i plugged my tube to my Win XP Pro pc for the first time, my 2009 Bitdefender detected an "autorun" worm in the TUBE memory card. New phone got worm/virus??????

I understand the newest symbian platform has more security measures but for my ease of mind/protection.
