Not that sure coz I never try Vista OS... u try to run memtest on ur friend's and ur own PC... see how's the result... if got error on the result, means ur memory got problem...

As far as i know from my experience... Crucial RAMs got some compatibility issues with certain hardware / software... which tend to result in many problems, ie BSO, restart automatically, etc...

Vista can get up to 4GB memory as I remember, you need to update its service pack.

I'm not sure about your low memory issue, I don't think it's the ram problem.
Could it be your vista settings?

To test your ram, you can use memtest86 which you can get from internet. It's an iso file which you need to burn into CD or floppy disk and reboot from it.
It will take more than an hour to run the full test.

Try google it up, i'm sure someone else have the same problem too.

there's a Windows version of Memtest86 available that allows u to run the test on Windows rather than thru DOS

If possible, run the test as soon as possible, bro.... to confirmed whether the RAM is defective or not... otw, will proceed without u..

one of my RED TRACERS 2 x 2gb kit kondem already
it still has the lights and everything On when boot up but will crash ... use 1 of the RAMS then ok ... use the other one straightaway crash and sometimes canot even boot up depending on which mobo i using
