QUOTE(achew @ Mar 19 2009, 04:09 PM) boss so can i say that F1.4 is nt F1.4 if its used on APS-C ? achew: No. What albnok meant was that the adapter is similar to what a teleconvertor would do. Example is if a teleconvertor has a magnification ratio of 1.4x, then it will magnify the focal length by 1.4 times, but at the same time also "magnifying" the aperture (by magnifying, I mean making it smaller). On an aps-c camera, there is no glass involved and you don't actually have any optical magnification involved. The crop factor came up due to the fact that the aps-c sensor was taking a smaller portion of the image circle than a full frame sensor. (hope you understand my explanations.... )

QUOTE(achew @ Mar 19 2009, 04:51 PM) ya..fully understood..don worry because i've came across with some comments like given a same lens(50mm F1.4 for example)..if u use it on cropped vs ff...it would produce diff bokeh..but i was thinking that isnt that the shape or other properties of the bokeh are usually determined by the lens itself rather than the body?? Hahaha... at least I know someone out there knows what I was talking about! Anyway, bokeh is a lot more complex to explain. I was talking in terms of the angle of view and the exposure control (i.e. the same lens will have the same exposure value on an aps-c camera and a FF camera). But in terms of bokeh... hmm... I think of it this way: we would normally leave the bokehness to the side of the photo. So if on aps-c camera, the sensor will only capture the middle part of the image circle, hence you will have less obvious bokeh (which is around the side / edges of the image circle). But this is only a very general view of how bokeh may seem less on aps-c cameras. It doesn't always apply (for instance in situations where you purposely put the subject at the extreme sides of the frame)....

QUOTE(AlphaBeta @ Mar 20 2009, 09:13 PM) Full frame is full frame 35mm sensor.... APS-C is cropped sensor..Sony's cropped sensor is 1.6x Canon and Nikon 1.5x...so a 50mm prime lens on FF camera is 50mm...but on APSC is 50 x 1.6 =80mm...provided that they are FF and aps-c lens.. No, it is the other way round. Sony & Nikon APS-C crop factor is 1.5x. Only Canon's APS-C crop factor is 1.6x.

QUOTE(Seng_Kiat @ Mar 23 2009, 03:55 PM) guys, yesterday, i was playing with A300 at sony style.. i try to snap something with flash on, the flash was flashing for a few times before snap .. looks cool .. i reset default on that camera and no more flash flashing .. how to do that? ... Try look in the camera's menu for something called focus assist or something like that. basically the camera sends out a small burst of light to illuminate the subject for easier focusing. This is normally done when the camera detected low light level in the photo.
