Hi...Anyone tested the new carcharias....I always wanted to own a razer headset....is the sound quality as good as the steelseries siberia headsets? From what i see...the cup designs look very similar to the steelseries.

Mamba mouse,Megalodon headset, the only thing missing is a keyboard that has 100 macro buttons and costs as much as your desktop.

Mm. Wait for z3alousn3ss to complete his review of his Carcharias against my Siberia. In a nutshell tho, the way the Siberia stays on your head is elastic, so it might be uncomfortable for some people. Think toothless headcrab. The Carcharias, however, has no locking mechanism, so you may need to adjust the ear cups every other time they go out of alignment. Comfort wise, i find the Carcharias more comfortable as its earcups are slightly deeper and smaller. DEFINITELY not similar to the Siberia. Siberia is much shallower and bigger.

Audio wise, the Carcharias is catered for gamers. Treble and mids are fairly accurate, while the bass is still present for that oomph, but not overwhelming. The bass on the Siberia is more powerful but slightly muddled. I use EQ setting Loudness in iTunes to overcome that, but for gaming, Carcharias would win hands down.

The Siberia is obviously for all-round usage, as proven by its detachable 3.5 mm jack. It detaches right before the volume controller. Word of advice tho, the mic is detachable as well, so it makes for some akward moments figuring out where to position it, a glaring fact omitted by most reviews. I find the mini stand supplied with the Siberia, originally intended for the mic to sit on monitors, useless. The mic simply doesn't pick speech up well enough, unless you like shouting like hawkers while fragging. My solution? I clip it to the cable, right where it snakes out from the headphones. Works well enough, but i'm still a tad disappointed over the whole mic concept. However, the detachable jack makes it worth all the trouble with the mic as a don't have independent earphones for my iPod Touch yet. iPod Touch + Siberia + mini kickstand = epic win for catching up the last few minutes of Burn Notice you missed earlier in the day.

All in all, i love my Siberia, and i love the Carcharias too. If you don't need your headphones for anything else other than gaming, i'd suggest you pick the Carcharias. Anything else, the old but venerable Siberia awaits. smile.gif
