As expected, Windows Vista Service Pack 2 RC and Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2 RC is now available to general public for download. You can download the SP2 RC for both Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 below:

• ISO for Windows Server 2008 x86/x64/ia64 and Windows Vista x86/x64
• x86 for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista x86
• x64 for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista x64
• IA64 for Windows Server 2008 ia64

The service pack is delivered as a single release for both Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. There will be a single 32-bit standalone installer (302 MB to 390 MB) for both Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. However, there will be two 64-bit standalone installers, including one which covers x64 architectures (508 MB to 622 MB) and one for Itanium 64-bit (384 MB to 396 MB)

Even though the download page and TechNet website still says its SP2 beta, the download file name reveals that this is indeed the SP2 RC build - 6002.16670.090130-1715_iso_update_sp_wave0-RCSP2.0_DVD.iso. This build is the same build sent out to select testers last week.

ya...i hv tried this realease..so far good...hehe

i try to install sp2 on my vista machine...however a popup said a recent version already been installed...so i confuse and when i check on system properties ... i've service pack 3 installed?.... since when microsoft release service pack 3.... haha...its weird ....

Fail to install this Service Pack Update....
After waiting about 30 minutes at stage Install Updates 3 of 3 100%, suddenly it said " Service Pack did not install.. Reverting Changes...
Fuhh...have to wait another 15 minutes for the reverting process..
And after last restart, got notification at windows that Installation was not successful. An unknown error has occurred. Error 0xc004f013

i think we would be better off with a alpha/beta version of windows7 than whatever service pack that vista team comes with... - more service packs mean more problematic OS, cos micro$oft almost never add new features in service packs unless absolutely necessary... mostly are bugfixes...

look at the size of that service pack...

I'm installing now, it took about 45 mins on my Intel P4 3.20GHz, 2X 2GB of DDR400MHz RAM, ASUS P4P800 SE-Deluxe and ASUS ATi Radeon 9800XT (Former top of hill, many, many, many years ago...). That was the speed on my testing/BETA rig. Afraid to install on main (other) computers.

bro, SP2 is a confirm release. If not, there won't be any Betas, RCs, etc.

Urm, currently SP2 is in a Release Candidate "status", therefore, it's promised/guaranteed that the official SP2 is gonna be released.
