QUOTE(labtec @ Mar 15 2009, 12:55 AM) Hi all, my parent found out that they been charged RM15.61 by CIMB bank for not paying the full amount of Credit Card on that month(accidentally left out RM31.59 and paid the remaing of dept one day late) my question is how come is RM15.61? The interest they charged is damn high for the late payment of the amount of RM31.59. AFAIK, the interest rate is just 1.8% per month for CC outstanding balance. anyone working in bank can help me on that? here is the transaction history. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Credit_cards#Interest_chargesPerhaps the first paragraph of the above link in Wikipedia can enlighten you.

15sen for sending the SMS and 30sen charge from the content provider. Normal local SMS charges usually applies for short code SMS'es.

The SonyCard is not free for life, if you click the find out more link, you will see that the annual fee is RM80 per card and RM110 for multiple cards.
Interestingly, I was only charged RM60 annual fee for my 2nd year, took 2 months for them to approve my waiver request. Not bad considering I have very few transactions on my Sony card.

David83, maybe that's true, but I would think that Sony and/or MBB would advertise more if that was the case. Didn't notice any new Sonycard promos when I was at the Sony Center in MV yesterday.

Which KFC you all go to in order to use CC? All outlets I've been after the first month always say the same thing, terminal down, not reliable, etc. I've been to Jln Universiti, Section 14, Kepong, KL Sentral outlets with the same outcome.

QUOTE(he-sham @ May 12 2009, 10:05 AM) i just been imposed late payment charge by ambank... my due date was 10 may 2009.... i paid it by cash to their cash deposit machine on 10 may 2009 at 11.15 pm.... since when they follow sydney or brisbane GMT ?? they are international bank or what ?? i hate to call their customer care consultant to ask for waiver since as far as i'm concern its still not pass the due date..... Not all banks credit your CC account immediately even if you deposit cash via CDM/counter. The only bank I know which does immediately is MBB. Those that don't is CIMB, UOB, HSBC, Ambank. But to my personal experience with UOB and CIMB, if you deposit cash on the last day, late payment fees will not be charged. Admittedly, I've not tried paying so late before.

QUOTE(andrekua @ May 24 2009, 12:18 AM) I really think our gov should change the rules la. Im not happy with the new rules after my bad experience 2months ago. I think its good for the government to keep strict rules but do it in another manner. My statement came up about RM3xxx. Somehow (I dont know how), when I transfer via CIMBClicks, it was RM4x short. When I received new statement next month, I was shocked of being charged 1% off the total RM5k+ that I spent. Then I look at it properly and then found out I had balance brought forward. I really couldnt find any receipt that match the missing amount but its ridiculous getting charged so much for such a small amount. In the end, I have to call and ask for waiver. Had this been before the new rules, I would only get a small penalty for it. Really makes me think twice about using cards now. This comes up quite often in this thread as most people do not understand how credit card interest is charged. The bank charged you correctly, refer to the first paragraph regarding interest charges in the link below: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Credit_card#Interest_chargesThe BNM rules did not change in a way which applied to you in your described scenario. If you had paid the extra amount before the next statement date, you will continue to enjoy the 20 days interest-free period in the next cycle. Only if the extra had accumulated to the next billing cycle will you lose your 20 days interest-free period. The above assumes that you did not previously have a carry forward balance in the previous cycle and so were enjoying the 20 days interest-free period, of course.

QUOTE(fauzistt @ May 24 2009, 08:22 AM) ..previously it's not like this, they just changed it last year... cant we consumer have any say before they change the rule that definitely not to our advantage; did they announce it before hand and invite comment from the public or consumer groups.. i suppose no, right? No, the only changes was the introduction of tiered interest rates and the removal of 20 days interest-free period for new purchases for customers with a carry forward balance. Our rights as customers are mainly the choice of changing card types/card providers or giving up the service if we are not happy with the new terms. Added on May 27, 2009, 1:51 amQUOTE(simplesmile @ May 27 2009, 01:25 AM) I've never had OCBC platinum or any supplementary card before. But here's how I get my annual fees waived on my cards last time before I had any "free for life" card. Call the card center. Pretend to be angry and tell the CS in an angry tone. "I want to cancel your card!". CS asks you why, you say cos you don't want to be charged an annual fee. You don't want to pay for something that other banks are giving for free. Other banks giving free annual fee. So you will bring your business to other banks. Usually, the CS will tell you they will waive or cancel the annual fee. Erm, why not just ask nicely for the waiver? This post has been edited by charymsylyn: May 27 2009, 01:51 AM

QUOTE(hye @ Jun 8 2009, 02:40 PM) Same here. If you calculate carefully, they charged you 3.88% for the 6-months cash. In actuality, MBB are charging you 7.76% admin fee for the cash advance. On that piece of paper, they have stated (in RM) the actual fees charged - it should come up to RM155.20, am I right ? I've done this before, upfront interest is RM70 something for RM2000. As long as you pay on time on the card used, there's no additional interest. Like any other short-term loan, one should take advantage only if necessary based on one's situation. There is no immediate yes or no answer to any financial question, except maybe for "Should I buy something if I don't have any money to pay for it."

QUOTE(skincladalien @ Jun 10 2009, 01:21 AM) hi guys, need help to calculate how the bank charge interest here. let say this month i swipe 3 times of RM1000, so the total bill will be RM3000. and the statement come, i only pay the RM50 minimum payment, isit RM3000 x 13.5% or RM2950 x 13.5% ? also what if i pay RM1500? isit RM1500 x 13.5% or RM2000 x 13.5%? thanks For most credit cards, compound interest is charged on the entire transacted amount till date of full repayment, including any amount repaid before the entire amount is repaid. This means that until the entire RM3000 is repaid, the interest charged will be the same, no matter the interim repayment amount.
