No need to have account with them. The most important thing are your annual income is above their min limit & good credit record.

Not really free membership for life. You need to make minimum transaction or spending per year.

After certain period, you can close it for free right?

Actually you cannot withdrawal all money but need to leave RM1 in the account. After 1 year period of in activity, they will automatically close your account.

Yes 5% is very nice. In SCB website there is a pdf that show the calculation on the cash rebate. Looks like it is 5% on Friday & 2 % rebate on any other day.

Edit - Seem like they award the rebate based on every RM50 rebate earn per month. Not sure about it but this is what I see from their calculation. It it is true then need to spend quite a lot to get that.

Hahaha ... changed your mind winner ? I thought you earlier said that Alliance is better.
I had around the same thought when I wrote coz I figure enjoy the benefit while you can and then keep the card in the freezer.  If all their customers did this than perhaps SCB would need to change their mind again.

Anyway ... these are some extra info that my RM provided about this card

- Need to maintain minimum balance of RM1K in the current acc. You will be subjected to a half yearly fee of RM50 if the balance falls below RM1K.
- Actually the card will use your account balance first and then if no money, it will use the credit facility.

Conflicting info from the CS contrary to most forummer reported ... YES! In fact, I called CS and they told me the same thing as well. Nevertheless the rebate is attractive enough - use it and then freeze the card!
If this is the case how to use the credit card facility when we have money in the current account? Need to tell the cashier?
If this is the case then the chance that we are getting credit card transaction is slim as most of the time the cashier do not know what they are doing. They just press the machine only.

I am getting different information. The CS told that the min 1k balance only applicable for normal current account not justone account. With justone account there is no such minimum balance needed.

regaring to use debit & credit card, he say we have to inform cashier. Normally, there is option to choose at the terminal.

CIMB DA sounds good for starters. You do quite a fair bit of groceries shopping I assume, what you should be targeting next is SCB JustOne* which provides direct cash rebates to all your purchases. Alternatively AllianceBank cash rebate card. (Or any other cash rebates cash card in the market which is not many so should be an easy decision)
* Check out the income requirement 1st.

Probably you need to have your own opinion about what you want but remember there is no card in the market which is best for everything. You need to sacrifice one for the other. Example ... a cash rebate card is probably not free for life or give you 5x points. Card payment is easy coz you can use IBG interbank transfer to pay. I know some people are complaining about the RM2 fee but you probably incur more money for petrol, parking and time to go to the bank. Best if not to incur at all but do balance out between convenience, what you want in your card and what you get at the end of the day.
Eg. SCB cost me RM2 to pay every month / fund trans but they gave me back at least RM30 in rebates every month. That's a net RM28 gain vs a RM2 investment.

Personally I like your question better than your regular "Recommend me best card!" coz you have narrowed down your needs.

Good luck on your choices!
*
If you have basic saving account such as from Ambank/Public Bank etc, they will give you 2 IBG per months at only RM0.50.

Card that offer better cash back.

AMEX charge card, If you convert MR to cash back, it is equivalent to 1% cash back.

Alliance Back Hybrid Acc Debit Card , 1% for standard card, 1.5% for platinum card & 2% on premium card.

However both not credit card. Sorry for out of topic.

Actually RM100K was back a year ago when the card was first launched. It has since been reduced to RM50K based on last known info. This way more people can qualify  rclxms.gif

Added on May 22, 2009, 7:50 am

As for CIMB it has also reduce to RM50K due to lack of qualifiers  tongue.gif
*
Is it confirm that, to apply SCB VISA infinite or CIMB World MC, the current card CL must be only 50k only?

If it is true then I will put in FD in Public Bank so that my current card limit increase to 50k & apply for SCB VISA infinite or CIMB World MC with it.

Your limit need to be in existence for at least 1 year or so for it to be effective plus they will have other criterias as well. The RM50K CL minimum is just one of them.

OK, what is the other criteria?

No harm asking them to send you an invite, right?

OK I could try that but what is normally the requirement? Similar like applying from other bank? If they ask about salary, then I disqualified straight away.
