You reply seem to generalise all CC uses this method... Some cards come in courier..some normal mail.
Activation is also depends on the bank which issued it.

Just to give an update. My attempt at using SCB Just1 to make payment at a restaurant in KLCC failed this afternoon. While giving my cc to the waiter, I kept reminding him to select credit function. As I was in a hurry to go to other place, I ended up using my Alliance to settle the bill. It looks like most retailers are inexperienced and not trained to handle this cc.

That sounds a bit discriminating. smile.gif
Why is there a double standard against classic cardholders? Anyway, since I started using CCs 10 years ago, all my CCs were sent to me via courier service, the only exception being a pre-approved cc from DA.

CIMB Direct Access is one of the best option for you. your salary must be more than RM1.5k per month for any CC. look at their website and you can apply through email

u will regret if u get DA..any bank also is more recognised compare to DA...u dont wanna cashier ask u"this card can be used ah?" lol

oh it seems that justone is overrated?

Personally I don't really think cashiers would bother with the bank/issuer. As long there's a MasterCard/Visa logo there, they'll accept it anyways

Only thing is when there's CIMB promotions, you might encounter certain cashiers who don't know DA is issued by CIMB and thus enjoys the same privileges

click on signature - you may get some info on waiver, points redemption comparison, cash back and installments program.

To do a table on discount is pretty tough as each card have discount at different outlets.

on your blog u wrote UOB Classic is free for life however my isn't as it also requires 6 swipes for each card to waive the fees

There have been many questions on Balance Transfer lately. I was damn free so did comparison on interest rate between banks.

Interested in Balance Transfer, read my comments in my blog below:

http://creditcardsmalaysia.blogspot.com/20...nd-balance.html

To summarize, Public Bank offers really competitive rates for Balance Transfer Plans

I think it is just an urban legend that one must only apply for credit card from a reputable bank so you won't run into any trouble. ANZ Bank is big in Australia and New Zealand but many people do not know the existence of ANZ Bank in Malaysia and yet my friend had no problem swiping his card here or in other countries such as Hong Kong, Japan and even UK.

Direct Access belongs to CIMB Bank. It was a brand previously owned by Southern Bank. You must be a degree holder to be eligible for any card issued by Direct Access.

Word of advice..own a credit card if you are able to pay within the spend...not to overspend on credit.

DA recognition issue has been being discussed over and over again. I admit that I did encounter the problem twice or thrice, having possessed the cc for 7-8 years before I terminated it early this year. Although recognition issue may occur depending on your luck while dealing with different retailers, DA is the easiet entry level for a fresh graduate to own a cc.

I am of the opinion that CIMB brand can now stand alone without using DA trademark. Should this turns into a reality in future, DA will become a history. tongue.gif

While sending your application to DA or CIMB, you may try your luck and apply for Alliance Younique. The entry level is as low as DA. On the plus side, your retail purchases can automatically reward you with 0.5%-1.365% cash rebate, on top of that timeless reward points are also given. However, you need to swipe the cc for at least 12 times in order to get the annual fee waived automatically.

p/s: I am not working with Alliance, I am not attached to any financial intitutions and I am not in finance field either.

Input on the method of delivery of cc as experienced by me in the past few months:

HSBC gold - Pos Laju (renewal)
Alliance platinum, Younique, Ikea friends - normal mail (need activation by phone)

I remember Citibank agents telling me their card activation equals swiping the card for the first time.

Hmm...banks seem inconsistency in sending CCs to customers. I received my Alliance Younique via Poslaju in end-Feb.

Was at Petronas early this month as wanted to get Transformer T-Shirt and Cap for son and a sales girl approach me to apply for Maybank Petronas. The sales girl asked for "help" as it was already close to 7pm and she said she had no customer, so me being easily con filled in the application form. Today got the Maybank Petronas Visa Card via Post Laju. I guess since Maybank took over Amex, they would have my personal info and such I got the Visa from them so easily.
