Everyone (I mean most of the people ) is using Jobstreet.com, Jenjobs.com or JobsDB.com, even though you have not used it but you must have heard of anyone of it before. How many of you like to use the mentioned online jobs portals or how many of you actually hate it? Write your comments here in terms of its advantages and disadvantages, practicalities, usability or any enhancements or improvements that should be done.

if the recruiter asks you to email them directly then its better to do so than apply via jobstreet, jobsdb or jenjobs.

in a way, you are directly in contact with the recruiter BUT its also best to indicate which position and where you saw the ad smile.gif

that is what i do

for those personally email to me direct, i will definitaley take a look at their resume.

Hello, I am from Penang. I want to search for job in Penang only, but everytime i use www.jobsdb.com.my to search for Penang position it comes out very few job and mostly is sales job. May i know how to search for Penang position only?? I try so many ways but still cannot find whole jobs listed from Penang. I really don't know how to use the "Job Search" selection column at left hand side. What to put the "Keyword(s)"???

For Jobstreet is easy to search, just select Penang all the positions listed out.

Anyone can help me here?? smile.gif

i also jobstreet user, never touch jobsdb before. i think the best you can do is
1) write in to jobsdb about your suggestion
2) register with penang job agencies and hopefully there are jobs that come by.

I guess it depends. I like to use JobStreet coz they have more jobs, and usually MNCs advertise through them. Plus, they show us how many others with higher, same and lower qualifications also apply for the same job. Thus you can do a reality check and compete with the others.

Another good thing bout JobStreet is that they send reminders. If the interviewer offer you an interview through them, Jobstreet will send sms-es and reminders on your interview sessions so you don't miss it & be alert. Ads are usually pretty descriptive too/.

I don't have problem with online recruitment and i think they are the good (except for scammers). Though, you can't blame if any technical fault happens.

i'm not sure about what you looking into

feature about those sys can be improve from time to time,
and performance can be degrade due to sys or internal staff problem

what you get about all these today, it can be changed in next week

the important is 2 aspects imo:
1. the pricing for job-poster/employer is attractive, and alot gimmick features

2. the sys contains a lot of existing applicants data

these are the important values for jobsite sys/company

I started using jobstreets about a year ago during my university year. There are very few jobs offer that I want.

I started using jobdb one month ago and I had submit about 10 applications. Not just that, there is a career fair by jobdb this months at Singapore. It is from 20-22 March 2009 at Suntec Convention Hall, Singapore.

i frequently login to jobstreet now to look for jobs..
so far i have 3 job interview invitations from jobstreet in 3 months time smile.gif

so i guess its quite ok..

but the thing i don really feel secure about is..im not sure whether the companies will really look at all the applications as there are normally around 20-30++ or more applications for one post only! and not sure whether they post the ads up just for market survey..cos some companies totally don update the ads after posting it up hmm.gif

I don't think the company will simply post job just for survey, cause it will cost about RM700++ to post a job in Jobstreet or Jobdb.
Sure RM700++ not worth just for survey.
Actually Jobdb response also not bad, quite some agency look through jobdb.
Just some company are totally not interest to update only.

The head hunter also charge around that, or 30% of your salary to the company for any success hire.
So the company really paid the price for just hiring a desire staff.
I think there will some package in bulk posting.

I think both jobstreet and jobsdb are pretty ok. Advantage of jobsdb is that there is less members, and the job vacancies is resonably ok (though not as much as jobstreet) so competition is less. I got my 1st MNC job through jobstreet and after that it was either word of mouth or headhunters.
