QUOTE(Punish @ Apr 22 2009, 08:50 PM)
did u guys realize tat "polling rate" can be a crucial matter when it come to gaming mouse.....what is polling rate....polling rate is basicly the time it takes to transfer the data from your mouse to your pc......

Normal mouse or old gaming mouse like MX518 series, MS intelli series, Diamondback, Krait  and etc etc, they all use a slow polling rate, 125Mhz (8ms).....modern gaming mouse like DA, G5, G9, Ikari already come with a new faster Ultrapolling rate, 500Mhz to 1000Mhz (2-1ms).....

ms, Millisecond maybe sound small to you but from 8ms to 2ms, you are really gonna feel the something.....the response time different is alot....however it doesnt mean slow polling rate is a bad thing......some ppl like it fast some ppl like it slow....for example in cs:s, rifle guys always gonna love slow polling rate cuzz its gonna give him time to aim headshot....in the other hand the fast polling rate usually gonna fit Sniper guy to re act ASAP...and 1 more thing, if your pc is kinda old and slow...go for a slow polling rate cuz high polling rate are gonna burden your CPUs....

hope this gonna help u guys choosing a right gaming mouse to suit your style...

GTG

125mhz and 500mhz different is a lot. while 500mhz with 1000mhz like no different. but mouse with low polling rate can be changed to 500 if tweak it.

hi all sifu, i put up around rm200 for my first gaming mice. what should i get?
i liked DA
but once i saw X5 it look not bad also.

infact i tried DA before, pretty comfort enough
now seeking for X5 feedback
*
x5 shape is kinda weird. It doesnt look comfortable like DA i think. How about intellimouse 3.0? Better feel than DA but lower tech(low dpi, low polling rate. However, the polling rate can be adjusted to 500mhz). FYI, DA is a bit shorter than ime3.0. A lot of ppl said ime3.0 give better performance than DA, including myself. Not to forget mx518 too.

my beloved imo. no complains at all. but somehow very tempted to get the mamba. i'm thinking hard as i agree to what you say too. better stick back to my imo.
*
I also not sure want to get the mamba or not. Want to say its worth, very hard. The shape almost same as DA but with different tech. For fps game, i dont think the techs will do much benefits except its wireless. 5600dpi and 1ms does nothing on 20" monitor like mine. But definitely will try it if i see some good reviews on qck heavy. So far, no one here tried mamba on qck. sad.gif

From Razer website and some reviews, said that Mamba is best paired with Destructor..
*
that is another problem. If mamba doesnt work well with qck or other cloth pad, that mean we need to buy destructor which cost u rm130. Its like if u want to use mamba, u need destructor. Unless can tahan with the 'problem'. Or razer fixes the problem for upcoming batches.

Checked out Roccat Kone.. seems a bit overkill for my needs. Heck even the programmable buttons on my keyboard also I never used tongue.gif

Considering Krait or DA now.. see which more comfy on my hands I suppose (right hander)
*
Since u dont play fps, i suggest u ikari laser. Ikari laser is the most comfortable mouse i have used. More comfortable than DA.

Why ikari must use on steelseries pad? what happen if use on my everglide DKT?

I tried ikari laser on goliathus, qck and exactmat. It feels good on qck and exactmat(smooth surface). On goliathus control, it feel so much friction.

gken's g15, sidewinder x6 no place to put, steelseries 7G hvnt buy yet when i took this picture laugh.gif

U may ask gken how he feels about the DA. DA was the first mouse for me and gken. For the first time, yeah, DA is godlike. But after we try and try other mouses, DA is nothing. We were hardcore RazerFan back then. Now no more. laugh.gif

if only ime3 is abit solid...i feel like im holding a plastic =.=

It really does feel like plastic laugh.gif
The first time i bought it, i was like shakehead.gif with the clicks and side buttons. I asked around and they told me its like that. The feels remain the same until now(1yr+). smile.gif

OMG so many gaming keyboards and mouses...
i would prefer DA cause it suits my style of holding the mouse and the design is nice compare to other mouse

tats onli my opinion, its up to a person's taste also
*
Have u try out the ime3.0? If havent, can try mah. I cant deny that DA is a good mouse, it is my 2nd choice among all the mouses i tried. And Ikari laser no doubt is the MOST comfortable mouse. But too bad i have problems on gliding the both mouses in game. sad.gif

Polling rate
the difference between 125mhz and 500mhz IS A LOT. However, 500mhz and 1000mhz is not noticeable.

what are the polling rates for? if i may ask....they seem pretty normal to me....
*
for 125mhz, it means the mouse cursor can only be updated every 8 milliseconds(8ms)
500mhz, 2ms and 1000mhz 1ms.
2ms and 1ms make no difference for me(DA).

will high polling rate shorten the life of ur mouse? maybe due to overheating?
*
1000mhz eat more cpu usage. And for normal mouse that does not have any settings to change the polling rate, it is better to not tweak it up to 1000mhz. I recommend 500mhz max. smile.gif

does high dpi mouse/gaming mouse require the use of mouse pad?
cause im really tempted to use gaming mouse like deathadder but i find that
using a cheapo gigabyte m6880(1600dpi) also hard to use..very sensitive..
maybe u guys can give me tips to handle high dpi mouses..
*
deathadder i use 450dpi only. If u cant get used to high sens, try low sens first. Try for a month then increase it.

AHA smart one but no use cuz truth

Its my english standard too low or your english standard too high? I dont get what u mean.

But if u dont want have any problem, just buy non-jitter mouse la. Not enough dpi? then max window sens, mouse sens, game sens. Sure 1cm can pusing many times. Seriously la, quit gaming. Suck gamer wont be pro even using a Rm1k mouse.
