This is the 2nd time of the month i got charged for nothing !!!!!
The first month i forgot to take away the setting in Cellular Data on my iphone.
But i was dumbfounded when they still freaking charge me after i deleted the settings!
My 3G is always off, what are the other settings that would charge me GPRS/EDGE/3G ??????

Data charges gua... when you receive MMS or browse the net via phone.

i dont have MMS, hence never receive anything from MMS ...
I thought i just mentioned i off the setting, hence whatever Browsing via the phone, it will only be usable only if Wifi connected?

if your WIFI got disconnected, will the phone automatically switch over to network service provider? Though your phone 3G is off, it might have used EDGE/GPRS to retrieve those data packets. Mine tell me how much are the data charges?

cuz u got data enabled. means if u open up any iphone application that need itnernet access = pwned.

I guess you better ask users that have the same phone as you for advise.

Go to cydia, search for a app called boss pref, install it, and turn off edge

BossPrefs is the best app around for you to enable/disable3G/EDGE & GPRS.

may i know how much data did you need to cost RM500? i've used around 3MB for the first month and was charged RM25. then the next month i terus opt for the 5MB for RM8 plan dy. cannot tahan. most of my data usage came from the GPS i think.

itu ...lahhh ... mau "style" for using iphone .... pay up laaah ...


no meaning of using iphone when NO unlimited usage of data package on the telco plan ....

only that, u can safely turn on 3g if u like

it probably tick off the freaking low wifi areas, hence it may changed to EDGE instead of wifi while i was using it.

If u shutdown 3G it will completely disable 3G on the phone, hence u won't able to get 3G coverage. If u shutdown Edge, the coverage is still there and u will still be able to access edge network, but u wont be able to access the internet

just subscribe for unlimited data service. cheaper and much safer.

i do not want to use INTERNET at all !!!! other than WIFI

Another option is to install SBSettings from Cydia which i highly recommend that you do. Disable EDGE connection to avoid anymore surprises.

You can disable 3G too and use it when you need it.

yes. you can do it with either BossPrefs or SBSettings. both is free and can be downloaded from Cydia.

there is no way to stop the gprs or edge if ur phone is virgin means no jb. Unlike digi u can set rubbish password in apn to disable it. Maxis cant be off. Even u turn off 3g doesnt mean u can stop the mobile internet as gprs will replace the 3g indicator. Haha.. Just subscribe rm8/mth for 5mb internet charges. I was lucky tat i just used 3 days when the bill ended tat month. My internet charges cost me rm15++ for tat 3 days only.. Then instantly i call up maxis for the subscription. Just to play safe la..

so much for a high tech iphone....
