Jam at most, only play online game....

I tested CQ40, i like it...just a few hundred over small netbook, CQ40 performance is good!

Since my laptop is just under two years, it is still sufficient, but my next laptop, better be good for Windows 7....

Although i wont buy laptop soon, but i always set what laptop that is ideal for me every year, to make me alert of laptop arrivals...

Example..

2008 : Dell XPS
2009 : Sony Vaio CS

If Jam gets CQ40, i also suggested her to pour money on RAM upgrade...
*
Dell XPS is just not worth buying now.You are buying 2007's technology.

Since Jam is an online gamer,i think CQ40 would be the best laptop for her.Avoid intel graphics as they are crap.3450 is decent,IMO.

Thats one laptop i really which cost 6k for one.It comes with really good specs.

I felt RM6K is too over for a laptop, of course different people has different requirements..

The optimum price range for a laptop for me is about RM 3500 to RM 4600, that's mid range and some high spec, if i am lucky...

After searching, i think Compaq will be the best for her...

Of course, i never ask her to get Acer biggrin.gif
*
Im a mobile gamer so i need the biggest bang with decent reliability.I think 6k would be sufficient for me to get a good gaming rig.

No wonder...

If i aiming at your price range, i am seriously considering Toshiba QOSMIO biggrin.gif
*
Not worth my money.RM8888 for a 9700GT. shakehead.gif

I can get a 9800GTS with 6k.

In the past, i have a fetish on Made in USA, now........made in Japan

That's why i always focus on Japanese branded laptops...because i always think that they are reliable..
*
Japanese laptops cost way too much for one.I feel that im buying the brand than a laptop.

Fujitsu,Sony,Toshiba are all ridiculously expensive brands for laptops.

I still find it cost a lot, compare to HP or Dell.

Maybe thats from a gamer's perspective.

If reliability is my main concern over performance,i would have bought a Sony,Fujitsu or Toshiba.

@Cheese

For me, no laptops until Windows 7 being released and tested

Windows Vista already a failure since day 1
*
Vista is quite good now, with SP1.It suxs back then, but not now.DX10 is pretty good for games,if you have the hardware.

Compatibility is still an issue for some software, though.

Lenovo is a close competitor too (IBM research facilities turn to Lenovo, but still in Japan)

I dont mind Benq,Dell or HP.I just want good performance to price ratio.

Personal experience

Before SP1

It seems it has the limit on how many windows that i opened at one time

After SP1

No more such limit, i can open as many windows as i wanted
*
I had lots of problems before SP1.Slow boot up.Bad performance in general.Lots of crashes.

After SP1,Vista is decent for me.

Asus is the only Taiwanese brand that i will consider...

Performance for the price that a person's pay, worth more than HP, in my opinion

Been using Asus for my desktop for quite some time. Not bad.

Tried Gigabyte,MSI and Abit(sadly,it's no longer in business now),i find that they are pretty good too.

I consider Google successful because not only do they have a great product, they're making money from it. On top of that they attract a lot of bright minds to their company and have a great corporate culture. They know how to treat their employees. They don't mind trying out new things too, which is always a good thing to see.
*
Yeap, seconded that. They even have a policy that one day of the week, you need to work on your own project, rather than the company's work.

Thats something pretty new to me.

I did hear about they treat their employee very well, but they want the brightest mind to be in their company.

New City in terms of look and practicality, i am never a fan of centre speedometer....

That is why new City helps Honda Malaysia's sales a lot...over 50% of their sales, came from new City...

Proton Saga, doesn't look that bad, at least from interior, different from normal Proton which is crap
*
The centre speedometer is pretty cool.Dunno is it like civic's one or not.I like that.

I hate the new Saga. It's just fugly in every way.Maybe i just hate how proton design their cars, except Satria Neo and Persona. The rest are fugly, including their new MPV.

I always have a mind of purchasing a brand that is not popular among Malaysians, but popular in overseas...for example..

Camera, i opt for Casio or maybe in future, Pentax or Olympus

Car, maybe Peugeot or luxury car, Audi
*
I kinda want to own a coupe like BMW 1 Series Coupe or Mazda MX5 or some well known tuner cars like Acura RSX or Nissan Skyline R34 at least once in my life, since exotics like Lambo Gallardo,Pagani Zonda or Nissan GTR is impossible to me to own.

QUOTE(silverhawk @ Mar 2 2009, 12:43 AM)
I agree, gen2's design is horrid. Actually, I'm starting to hate the new trend of cars to have a high back. It makes it really hard to see what's behind you. The gen2 and persona are examples of this.

Yes, the savvy is one fugly car.
*
Yeap,it was a lot of complain for the back view problem. In fact,it's really hard to see cars at the back.Seen it with my very own eyes.

Savvy reminds me of toilet bowl. mellow.gif

New MPV, i think it is conservative enough for family buyers...Proton cannot afford to design something different just for the sake of being different, we all know how Savvy fared in Mareshia...

Proton is improving (more mainstream than previous sportiness) , but in this Exora, i am worried of the quality, not necessarily bad, but will it worthy of RM 7x,xxx? Time will tell (next month)

Otherwise, in terms of specs, it easily trumps Livina...especially the in car entertainment and cup holder issue
*
I heard Exora was a China designed car.Proton just rebadge it.If that true,i dont expect much on the quality as China cars have even worse quality than Proton.

Do correct me if im wrong.
