Most display card drivers (ATI/NVIDIA/Intel) allow you ro rotate the display after the phyical rotation. Unlike some manufacturers, Dell monitors do not have a switch or a vertical sensor to send the signal for software/drivers to auto-rotate the display for you...
*
ah yes i forgot to mention that, after physically rotating the display, need to set it in the drivers as well smile.gif

yeah but don't forget to read this part

On the other hand, we have played games on all of the test LCDs, and we honestly can't say that we noticed any difference in our overall performance. But we weren't hopped up on Bawls and we don't have a 1337 name like Fatal1ty. Competitive gamers will probably feel differently.

The easiest way to see what's the panel use is by looking at the viewing angle. TN panel will always have a more narrow viewing angle usually 160° / 160° (typical) and VA/S-IPS will have wider viewing angle usually 178° / 178° (typical).
Unfortunately not all manufacturer advertise the panel they use, so using viewing angle is the most accurate way to know the panel used

Most TN panels now boasts 170° (horizontal)
*
yeah I did saw some at dell with 160° / 170° viewing angle at Dell site. This makes it harder to see whether the panel is TN or VA/S-IPS since I think most ppl at the shop doesn't know what panel is used on the LCD they are selling and not all manufacturer advertise it

mostly is personal preference I guess, I got my 2408 because I wanted a VA panel and also it has 5 years warranty and premium panel guarantee, which means I can exchange it even if there's only 1 dead/bright pixel.
And I don't think there's any other 24" that comes with the amount of input that the 2408 has

Dell listed their panel nowadays. and what's with the all TN panel nowadays Dell? demitt....even 24" is TN? come on,.....at least give us VA
Chow
*
yeah I know dell listed them, but most other manufacturer doesn't. Dell 24" VA panel, the 2408 went to small & medium business section instead of home smile.gif. looks like all dell VA panel went to small & medium business section, only the 27" and 30" is still under home

Both HDMI and DVI output digital signal, so you don't lose anything if you don't use HDMI. Just that HDMI can carry audio + video signal while DVI only carry video signal.

another thing........

wanna hook my pc with 2 monitor........
any tutorial
*
you don't need tutorial for that, just connect them and change the setting for you video card to either clone, extend/horizontal span or dualview

Clone means both screen showing the same thing
Horizontal span means your desktop extend to the second screen
Dualview means you each display is configured independently

btw the above are for nvidia card though

maybe your LCD brightness is too high, that can induce eyes pain and headache as well

Hi there valho! How are the figurine collecting going? tongue.gif
Actually I've already did that.

Brightness of my monitor had been decreased to roughly 60% output of my ambient light surrounding. Any darker and I *might* have to strain my eyes further to look at the monitor. *haha*
But I'll go back home at try again, will play around with the lighting settings.
Or perhaps I should also tweak the color (eg for office use?)?
Hehe.. Well sometimes during peak times programming gets really hectic.. Hence staring at the screen for long times. I actually do take interval rest (10 minutes every 1 hour), however, the headache/strain still comes back quick, when it doesn't happens when I do my coding in the lab. >_>
Will google abit to check on how to reduce eye strain. Haha. Refresh rate had been set to high also.
*
still collecting but not as much, yen rising and price rising is killing me

anyway hmmm it couldn't be flickering since you use DVI, but yeah maybe tweak your LCD setting a bit and see how it goes. For LCD refresh rate doesn't do anything since LCD is at 60hz only.

I wonder what's wrong with 16:10, not the black bar thing again I hope.
Anyway with all those connectivity you have to be prepare to pay more, I suggest you look at Dell UltraSharp™ 2408WFP instead, it has the same connectivity as Dell 3008WFP UltraSharp 30". Price is Rm1955 at the moment, look for it at Dell website under SMALL & MEDIUM BUSINESS

using 16:9 doesn't mean there's no black bar, only HD tv series resolution is 16:9, most movies are not

having the black bar is good for me, since it's just nice for the my MPC control and also whenever the taskbar comes up when I open other stuff on my second screen.

I wonder if u really read the article and understand what it said before posting that.
I already know about the black bar and aspect ratio used in movies before reading that.

connected digitally means using either DVI or HDMI cable
connected analog means using normal VGA cable which is what you are using now
