bought Samsung SyncMaster 2494HS 24" Full HD lcd monitor yesterday. Very happy with the picture quality and the build quality. The frame is matte black with glossy plastic on the top, side and bottom part with touch panel. Dynamic contrast is 50000:1. was thinking to buy Dell S2409W but seeing the dim display at max brightness, opt for samsung instead. Bought at 4th floor thundermatch LYP. the attendant said the S2409W display set was used for 1 month and it dimmed in that period. it was very nice in the beginning but deteriorate rapidly. the samsung 2494HS still look bright and nice. The color, sharpness and brightness beats s2409w easily. the color is vibrant and deep. can see all the details in the games easily. have to see it to believe it.the main menu in RE5 looks extremely nice. the fonts are sharp and the contrast and color is very nice. i bought it for RM895. worth it as it is only a bit more expensive than S2409W but the quality is much more better.

The display set is switched on for long periods of time. very fast can see the dimming. if use sparingly, of course will take a long time. my friend told me samsung is famous for its lcd monitors. he had one bought and used for 4 years already still working. it's a RM13++ 15". now i trust samsung. b4 this i was sceptical of samsung monitor's quality. i used benq E2400HD previously. somehow i prefer it. too bad sold it already. have to get used to my new samsung 2494HS. it's also had to notice the dimming unless u compare it side by side with another monitor like in a pc store. well, i guess i was lucky to check out thundermatch. if not, would have stupidly bought the dell s2409w without comparing with other monitors.

but it doesn't have hdmi input and not 16:9. not nice for ps3 and xbox 360 gaming, at least for me.

i set the brightness and contrast to 100 but still cannot beat 2494HS.

cannot full screen? the 2494hs stretched the sides until cannot see. then when i change the image size from wide to just scan, it became normal again.
but when connect vaio fw33 to it, it sometimes stretch the side then become normal. no idea why...

is samsung 2494HS worse than AOC 24 incher? man, just bought samsung but people here say AOC better. feel like changing.

Added on June 12, 2009, 9:14 amThe xbox nxe still ok. the games are not because are upscale from 720p. only few games support 1080p. most are upscaled from 720p to 1080p.
