Dear all,

I have a quick question here. As I am currently doing alot of programming work, I find my Viewsonic 19 inch to be really fatiguing to my eyes. I am not sure if it's setting problems or whatsoever, but could anyone recommend me on my next LCD purchase perhaps? (targetting for those around 22" size, budget can give and take lah, provided the monitor is good)

Usage: Heavy programming work, anime, abit of gaming.

Oh and if anyone can recommend me settings to decrease my eye fatigue and headache it'd be very much recommended. Thanks in advanced.

Morning!

Since I laid my hands, set-up and tested the Samsung FullHD 24" LCD monitor yesterday late evening...I would recommend it since it's really good. It's high definition and I think your programming skills will increase 10% from obtaining the said LCD monitor. HiHi...

Regards, Joey.

Hmmm.. Samsung 24" would be well above RM800 if I am not mistaken? Hehe. I would consider it, however I am actually aiming for a budget around RM600~RM700, doesn't needs to be a big sized monitor though.

I would suggest you to have a dual monitor setup. One monitor for coding, the other monitor for testing/other purposes. This is a better solution compared to a single large monitor.

Hmmm.. What monitor would you recommend doe long *staring* purposes then? smile.gif

Things to check on your Viewsonic.

The connector: VGA or DVI. IF VGA, is there a lot of flicker going on, which would explain your eyes tiring. Check whether there is a DVI input and switch to that, see whether it helps.

For the 22", I'm not sure how big you want those letters on the screen, but 1920x1080 on those 16:9 monitors are rather small. Look for 16:10 22". Else look for 24" 16:9. The height is more bearable.

Sadly, I am already on DVI cable. One troubleshooting down I guess.
(I find the HP L1908w in my computer lab really easy going for my eyes though)

Hmmm.. I am probably not that bothered by small sized fonts. But I am pretty lost with screen ratios (16:10/16:9) sadly, gonna give it a check up tonight to see how they differ, or can someone enlighten me please as I might not have sufficient time to research on my own? smile.gif

maybe your LCD brightness is too high, that can induce eyes pain and headache as well

Hi there valho! How are the figurine collecting going? tongue.gif
Actually I've already did that.

Brightness of my monitor had been decreased to roughly 60% output of my ambient light surrounding. Any darker and I *might* have to strain my eyes further to look at the monitor. *haha*
But I'll go back home at try again, will play around with the lighting settings.

Or perhaps I should also tweak the color (eg for office use?)?

Hi there!

Hmmm...could be one of the possibilities. Anyway, he should have 10 to 15 minutes interval rest. Give yourself a break. Don't strain your eyes...sometimes it's not the hardware that gives to the problem but rather your own self. Thought for ponder...Hihi

Regards, Joey.

Hehe.. Well sometimes during peak times programming gets really hectic.. Hence staring at the screen for long times. I actually do take interval rest (10 minutes every 1 hour), however, the headache/strain still comes back quick, when it doesn't happens when I do my coding in the lab. >_>

Will google abit to check on how to reduce eye strain. Haha. Refresh rate had been set to high also.
