Apparently S2409W is years old while H233H is just being released on this year January. Some claims that S2409W doesn't have 1:1 pixel mapping, anyone can confirm that?
Really need to decide soon as I'm going to choose between them by next week.

Any downsides getting the monitor with 1920x1080 or the 1920x1200? Can games scale to 1920x1080, as I see earlier monitors tend to support 1920x1200?

Hi guys. A quick question here. Is Viewsonic VX2433wm a good buy? I saw it around 75x+ at garage sales. How it perform compared to dell 2409 which is around 700+ as well?
Whats the difference between 24" and 23.3"? Will it effect much if the specs such as contrast and ms are similar? I'm using it for ps3 games and movies (maybe).
Thanks alot

Contrast are measured on varying condition, as well as viewing angle which most manufacturer failed to mention. The condition might be room lighting. If you wouldn't mind the input selection issue, VX2433WM is up to go. The unit is newer compared to Dell S2409W. Added on May 7, 2009, 1:20 pmWow, just notice that the differences of 1" really does a lot of difference. 23" (51cm x 28.6cm) vs 24" (53cm x 30cm). the differences of 2cm really does make a difference. Guess S2409W is my choice then This post has been edited by D.Sync: May 7 2009, 01:20 PM

So it means VX2433WM only have dvi-d and hdmi input and no analog input compared to 2409w izzit? Apparently, seldom ppl use analog anymore unless they connect to a low end gc of a pc rite? How does the 1" make a diff? Movies and Ps3 is more better to run in 1920x1080 / 16:9 isnt it? Both 2433 and 2409 offer the same resolution. Mind to explain wat diff it may have? I'm getting blur. Both 2433 and 2409 offer the same resolution. Mind to explain wat diff it may have? I'm getting blur. The input selection issue I meant was VX2433WM was unable to remember the last input selected. Let's say you select HDMI for PS3. To select the input source from the main menu of the monitor (OSD), you'll have to connect a VGA input (eg: notebook) with it then only will the monitor displayed something for you to select. That's what I read from an article not long ago. Check my thread for the link. Now then you shut down your PS3 and go to sleep. The next day you turn on your monitor and decided to play PS3 again, nothing displayed on the screen. So you need to connect your laptop with the monitor, then only can you select the HDMI as your input source again. 1" is approx. 2cm. It's just that the viewable screen size will be bigger, that's all. As long as it's 1920x1080 it's AR is definitely 16:9 as in 1920/1080 = 16/9.

Then the issue for viewsonic seems very bad. Its very troublesome to switch here n there and must ensure a vga device is available anytime.
Seems there isnt any other options for ps3 other than dell 2409.

There is, Acer H233H, the only downside is the 23" (50cm x 28.6cm) viewable screen size. It also have a input selector button which is very convenient. Check previous post for screen-shots about it.

Doesn't really effect pc games or movies because the pictures should scale, but consoles with HD output will only go as far 1080 so console games will be stretched.
