Erm,anyway,quite some time ago,i did think of this: Make "Will you marry me?" in LED,if you know how to do electronics.Put in the boot of your car with some roses.Probably the whole sentence fit in the boot and you can see the whole thing when you open the boot.Then,drive to a beach.Walk around with her on the beach.Then,say i got something to show you.Go back to the car,open the boot and light up the LED.Give her the flowers and the ring to propose.

Just some random ideas cause i was thinking of doing a heart shape LED lights for her but got no time to do and they stop selling the kit.Can be very time consuming to design one from scratch.I have to design one out of scratch during the next semester break.I know that it will sure melt her heart cause i know girls prefer things you make yourself than you buy.Provided she dont mind geeks la.

The recession may have brought misery to many but it appears to have led to joy for others by encouraging increase in the number of marriages.

Register offices and churches have reported a rise in marriages and civil partnerships since the onset of the economic downturn.

Experts say the trend could be a result of people seeking greater stability at a time of uncertainty.

Chrissie Stainton, who has been a registrar in Poole, Dorset, for 16 years said she had never known a surge like it.

"It's beyond belief," she said. "It is always busy after Christmas but we are struggling to fit people in. For some reason, weddings do seem to be on the up."

At one venue in Poole, Compton Acres gardens, bookings are up 70 per cent compared with last year.

Suzie Watts, the manager, said: "We've seen a staggering rise in bookings and enquiries but at the same time we are seeing signs that couples are being more savvy with their spending.

"The popularity of midweek weddings certainly suggests an emerging trend."

Tara Howard, managing director of the Langtry Manor Hotel on Bournemouth's East Cliff, said: "It has been amazing. We have been rushed off our feet.

"We have had them queuing up for appointments to be shown around. We are well up on what we were this time last year for the year ahead."

At Christchurch Priory, in Dorset, bookings for 2009 are up 25 per cent on last year.

At Westminster register office, in London, there were 1,457 weddings and civil partnerships during the whole of 2008. After just one month of the new year, the office already has 776 bookings for 2009.

A spokesman said that that was an unusually high number so early in the year. "We have noticed that we are really busy. It does look like the credit crunch is making people get married," she said.

Registrars in Liverpool married 281 couples between September and December, compared with just 253 over the same period in 2007, a rise of 11 per cent.

In Newcastle, there were 815 weddings between April 2007 and the following March. Since then, there have already been 854.

In Leeds, in the second half of last year, when the effects of the credit crunch started to be felt across Britain, there were 887 marriages. This compares with the corresponding period in 2007 of just 841.

In Manchester, there were more than 1,600 weddings last year, compared to just over 1,500 the year before. Already, there have been 500 booked this year.

Meanwhile, a survey by the wedding planner website, Hitched, of wedding dates found that the most popular wedding date this year is August 1, on which 561 of its clients are already due to wed.

Professor Cary Cooper, a social scientist at Lancaster University, said: "The increase in marriages makes sense. If you're feeling insecure, as people are now, then you are going to want to try to bring some stability to their lives.

"During a period of economic growth, when you have a more entrepreneurial climate, people are more me-oriented. But when times get tough, and you are out there on your own, you are going to look more for security in relationships."

However, the overall proportion of people getting married has declined in recent years.

Figures released last week by the Office for National Statistics found that just over half of adults, 51 per cent, were registered as married in 2007, compared with 59 per cent in 1998. Previous periods of upheaval have seen an increase in weddings.

The real reason why UK marriage rate increased is because there is a study that shows that married couple feels that they can withstand recession better than being single...
