Dear members,

This time around, let us head to Taman Kinrara, Puchong for the under-privileged in House of Joy! HOUSE OF JOY is a social concern and a non-profit charitable home that administers shelter, care and training to orphans, children and teens who are underprivileged, abused, abandoned & neglected, poor, and delinquent. Besides children’ home, we also give shelter and care to some underprivileged and destitute old folk. House of Joy has been established since 1st August 1992 by Rev Tang Chee Sing and his wife Lee Ching Mun.The aim of House of Joy is to reach out to these needy people, to develop a real sense of worth and a change for the betterment amongst children, teenagers and the elderly. We hope that by loving, caring, counseling, educating, training and transforming through restoration will help this needy especially children and teenagers into useful adults, ready to face life’s challenges.

As planned and suggested, we wish to give a lunch to the children and old folks in the Home on 28th March 2009, Saturday at 9am. Of course we will never miss out to come up with some nice activities for the children.

Come on people, let us gather again to spread the love around! Hurry join me for this great event!
Donations will be depending on you, any form of donation will do and that's not the main issue because I definitely wish to have more manpower!
Do not worry about contribution, what most important is the manpower that I need. I wish to get more people to join in for the fun, so just come and have some fun together!

Just drop your name here, let me know your contact number, location and if you need any transport.

Thank you!!!

p/s : There will be more update from time to time! Remember to drop me a PM/ msg in msn or sms @ 0192728122! If you can't get me, you can refer to Verx as he will be another person that you can refer to! Thank you!!!

Dear members,

Kindly take a look at the first post for the update. Again, I wish to emphasize that it's not a must to contribute any items but most important is your precious time and energy. It will be way much better if you are able to drop by on the event day itself to have some fun with the children. All of us will have our first time in doing anything, I wish you will have a great time if that's your first time for all these charity events.

Every single cent count for your donation, so I will grab anything from people who want to make any donation. I won't tell you specifically what I want, because it is up to you for what you want to contribute. Every single second count for your precious time with them, your existence could make a big difference in their life.

Thank you all for supporting. smile.gif

Cheers,

Here's my contribution.

I've gotten the quotation and list of stationery from a wholesaler:

Paper bag (Hard Cover)
Pencil Set (with pencil, rubber, ruler & sharpener)
Color Pencil 12 Pcs
Coloring Book + Sticker
Small Notepad + Extra Pen

Overall cost RM5.20
So total for 60 children would be RM312.00

I'd pay up and get the stock from the wholesaler, next I'd pack it into the hard cover paper bag, before passing over to shirley / verx.

As about attending the charity event, I am not confirm yet as I am unfamiliar with Kinrara Puchong area, unless someone to car pool me from Kota Damansara, then I'd be glad to join. smile.gif
*
my name is Sherly sweat.gif

Thanks for your contribution.

Again, please if any of you have problem with transportation to get over to that place, do contact me. I will set up meet up location on that day before heading to the place and also will be getting people in charge of arranging transportation.

As for the venue of the place, I will get the map up as soon as possible. I do need to wait for more information and update from the management of the Home there too. Thank you

QUOTE(ndgoh @ Mar 11 2009, 11:17 PM)
I received a notice with deep regrets that meeting on 12/3 will be postponed to next week... Ample time and notice is already given and yet majority are unable to attend. Why? Even if there are 3-4 members attending, I'll still come...

I take this charity thing very very seriously and have made BIG effort to attend 12/3 meeting by canceling or rescheduling my meetings and appointments.

I even take time off (weekends) and went shopping for clothes for the kids with a very happy heart... After buying lots of new clothes I felt so eager and excited for this event. I also thought of buying some sweets and chocolates as well... Well... sigh...

The response in this thread also luke warm and since this is the attitude and "warmth" response from members, I'll just pass on the clothes and the budget for the KFC/wedges to another member to deliver it to the kids la...

With a heavy heart, I wont be attending anymore meetings next week onwards (will be very very busy next week onwards) and I wont be coming on the 28/3 as well coz I need to go back hometown for Cheng Beng...

Please do make a big and kind effort for those kids so that they can have some funs once in a while...

Pls do PM me if there is anymore things I can do for those kids ya...

Cheers...

p/s Pls dont delete this post ya...  tongue.gif

I'm sorry regarding about the meeting. Anyway, just to speak out from my part, I also made very BIG effort by preparing the agenda and my schedule for the meetings. When got to change to next week, I have to reschedule my meetings and appointments too, but is there anyone know about it? I can show everyone how pack my schedule is, even for my next month schedule is almost full. I'm not here to compare but just want it to be fair for everyone because I know a lot of us DO put in effort and being very SERIOUS with it.

The thread is for information and also let some people to drop questionse. I don't encourage 1 liner spamming here thus all one liner spam posts are deleted. We have the headline in LYN page to bump up this thread, why should we still yet spam the thread with not much information and make the thread being some like chat thread? Just in case you don't know, I had many many many discussion with a number of them in MSN, pm, sms, in fact a few of us came out talk about it too. So, what sort of attitude is this?

I may sound harsh but sorry to say, since everyone here treat me as a leader, I have my responsibility to take care of them and as well protect them. They do make a very big and kind effort to let the children have fun, in fact we even want to do more for them. For me, I'm doing it for the kids, for them who need our hands, thus I don't see a point by telling people what sort of sacrification I've made and what sort of things I'm doing for them. I just try my best to do for them and I think that's more than enough for me. This is what I'm expeecting from everyone here too. Do it for the children, why want to bother about the others? Do it with a heart of willingly and happily, never be stingy to your love and happiness, we should spread it all out around. If there's no donation or any materials contirbution it's alright, I can take the pain to get it out there. What I want is the attendance and the hand. That's far more important than those materials. They are happy to see people visit them, not happy with whatever things you give them.

Everyone do have their busy and tight schedule. I do have one and I don't mind when those who unable to make it for meeting or whatever. Just postpone it, I don't mind to cancel my two meetings next week just for it since most will be happier with that way. Why we only think of ownself? Try to put yourself in others shoes. From there I think will be better and happier.

Thank you

js to make things clear, most of the member do not post here its because to make sure it is clean. v discuss in msn. every1 has their sacrifice for this event, not just you, thx for being there. as for y sherly postponed the meeting, only she n those who cant attend knows.

on the side note, pls, will u guys do some time keeping? i dnt wish to see members being late on that day with excuses. if a simple time keeping is so hard to do well, what else can be done well? there r lots of time b4 the event, dont tell me it's not enough. do planning! when meeting time is set, n location for meet up is set, make sure u gets there in the time specified. if u r not sure about the location, ask at least a day before! if u'll be there late, call! its a simple task to be perform as a human

its a team project, not all handle by 1 person, so pls communicate well. other ppl cant read your mind if u dont speak.
*
Yes, it's a team project and I do agree with Vincent about the time keeping. I won't be able to handle everything alone, this is why I open up a thread here to ask for help. When I said I need your confirmation it mean I seriouosly do. I always give enough of time for everyone. Coming late, well seriously just let me know and I will be fine with it. FFK also, I won't mind if you let me know the real last minute.

There... see... more response is better ma... make things more exciting! This thread is too dormant leh... I am just too concern that the thread will die off too soon... Can anybody see where we are heading in 1 years time?

I have seen too many efforts that just disappear into the oblivion in just too short a time...

Too few people gotten involve in planning and the heavy burden rested on too few people especially Sherly... The stamina may run out pretty fast too...

Offended? Nah... We're bros...

Come on people... came and bamboo me and say you are committed for a good cause!!!
*
Sorry Andy, I won't agree with what you are doing now. I don't see a problem if a thread is too dormant, this thread won't die off because we have the headline in LYN. I can tell you where are we heading in 1 year time, I will have more and more committed members, we will have more events, help more people. In fact I'm trying to work it out to have more things for the members, may be our own logo, our own banner, our own t-shirt and make this a registered organization. So, can you see this?

From first event I got to plan out everything alone, search for place alone and do all the contacts alone. Now this is the third for 2009, I have Vincent to help in charge for meet up location, I have Verx help in handling enquiries whenever I'm not online, I have Bryan to come up the map for me, I have photographers who willingly offer their help instead I look for one. I have all the others to discuss for the schedule and so on. So I don't think the stamina will run out pretty fast. Even if I have to do everything alone but as long as there are people attending, I don't mind for it. I'm in this charity work for many years, and all the previous years I'm doing everything alone.

If you want people to bamboo you, please go outside. I take this subforum as mine and I don't like it to have all the spammers spamming here or any flame thread at all. This is a thread regarding about our visit to House of Joy, nothing more. If there's any enquiry, can drop a post here. If you are interested and want to come, can drop a post here. If you can't make it but want to make some donation, can drop a post here. Please respect the others, I keep insist to make this thread clean, because members can just get the information they want immediately without going through all the rubbish post.

That's all.

Thank you.

Personally speakin for myself i have 110% confidence with Sherly... i think the only way to appreciate her work is to be there to see and experience it, personally i think your comments in general were unwarranted.

I strongly suggest u retract what u have said to avoid any further misunderstanding.
*
Thank you Adrian for having the confidence with me smile.gif
I don't want to have any misunderstanding occur. If anyone want to flame, please go outside.

Sherly, hope that everything over there is allright.. haven't heard from you for awhile now
oh, im at your sevice here.. need any help? you know where to find me ya..  hehe wink.gif

Thanks Brian, everything are fine. I didn't hide those post nor delete because I don't want to let all the members have any misunderstanding. It's better for everyone to speak it out what they have in mind.

I'm sorry that I was really too busy to even get online and update here.

I'm gladful to have Andy, Ian, Vincent, Brian, Adrian and many more great supporters here. Do you know all of you are so great? You've make a change in a life; you've make such important changes in their life! I'm so thankful for everyone here to support, to make all events such a great one and being so generous to give out all your love to the children, the poor and those who need it. All of you are so kind and lovely, I'm sure all of you love each other as well. LYN CF is just like a big family, of course we love our own family members first before we are able to spread the love out to the others.

I can only promise to try my best to be a good leader to do at my best for all of you. I know I am not good yet and much more to learn. I hope to have fun with all of you again and again for our upcoming events. I hope in the near future, we will have our very own and nice LYN CF T-shirt, LYN CF tag in our profile, LYN CF logo, banner and so on, in a way to promote the event as well.

Well, let's back to the topic again.

We will be having a meeting on 19/03/2009, Thursday @ Leo's cafe at ss2 from 7.30pm.
I notice there are members who are interested in joining for the meeting, I do welcome more brains to join in helping me out for more ideas, and so on. So if let say you are able to join, please PM Verx, or SMS me. I need to prepare for the agenda and need to know how many are coming too before Wednesday night 10pm.

Take note, it's NOT a MUST for all volunteers to attend for the meeting. It's alright if you can't attend the meeting.
So, let's start sms me or pm verx.

Thanks people! smile.gif

Dear members,

I'm so thankful to all of you again for the great job to make the March event another great one! I'm very thankful for all contribution no matter for food wise, donation wise, items wise or manpower, that's really very kind of you for putting so much effort for the children.

It's the third events, I'm glad to see the members join in since the first event until now and also happy to get more and more members. I always think we are the lucky and great one because we have so many nice things around us. It's so touch to see everyone putting effort to make the children happy. Not to forget thanks for trying out my lousy baking. It's very kind for all of you to finish it for me blush.gif

Anyway, other than thank you I'm kind of speechless. Again thank you for everything and wish to see you again for all the upcoming projects/events! biggrin.gif

Thank you!!!
