This is not dangerous for your health, but it will take long time to heal depend on the person. Mine isn't gone since 2 years ago. At first i was really scared, lot of thing went through my mind because i knew something is not right with my head. Turn out, it's BPPV, a benign disease. The vertigo attack is rarely occur to me, but it's the constant loss of balance sensation, flicking vision and mild headache are what bothered me. I've stopped taking Betaserc, cinnarizine since i don't feel any progress and it can cause stomach upset. In this case, i think therapy or physical exercise could help the patient combat these 'sensation' or 'feeling' you can google "exercise for BPPV patient" for video. But beware, don't push yourself too hard.
Most important thing that i learned from these 2 long years is don't let it bother you too much. Don't feel panic or anxious, it's just a 'sensation'. The 'spinning' is most likely not gonna occur every time, it's rare. Also try avoid things that can make the sensation feel worse. For example, get enough sleep, position your head properly before go to sleep, use chair with head rest, wear slipper or shoe that have soft insole and outsole (you can buy another one to use inside your house if you like).
If you board a train, car or everything that moving, don't look down or read something. Focus on the environment outside or in front of you. It's complicated, i don't know how to explain. It's something like your brain know you're moving but since you're looking at the magazine, a static or not moving object, your eyes tell there's nothing moving. So these two contradict each other and you'll get dizzy easily.
Oh and don't forget your medicine, bring it everywhere and follow your doctor advice. I'm just a random person on the internet. Don't put all of things that you've learned from the internet above your doctor instruction and advice. You can read but it's not 100% accurate or same with your condition. Discuss with your doctor first if you discover something.
