Hey guys, my friend is a new iPhone user.
Apparently he bought this Australia set which is legally unlocked (not yellowsn0wed) and then when he was trying to update it from 2.2 to 2.2.1, he was dumbfounded to found his newly bought iPhone sim locked. He also tried restoring again, but it remains locked. It seems that the iPhone is no longer carrier unlocked.
I am wondering if my iPhone will face the same situation? I bought a Singapore set, and have updated before from 2.1 to 2.2 without a hitch, will it be relocked when i update to 2.2.1?
Thanks guys!

Don't know about the Aust set but from what I gathered, it can happen.
As for your Singapore set, if it is from SingTel, can tell you for a fact that you will have no problem as mine is and it was up-graded to v2.2.1 without any issues.

As a precaution to all new iPhone buyers - PLEASE check the PART number and compare with the list in the Apple website to be 100% sure its from an OFFICIAL UNLOCK telco/country.
Many buyers mistaken when they purchase from Singapore, they take for granted that its a Singtel set.

Was afraid of this also.

After u upgrade the firmware, it will be relocked again, however, if your iphone is official unlock unit, just connect to itunes and let it do its job, it will unlock it for u
