I was told by few of my friends that the quality of Petronas' petrol is better & can run more km if compare to other petrol brands. Anyone of u have really compare which brand's petrol really can run more km for same RM?

I am driving Wira, using Petronas & per km is about 0.15-0.16 sen. Any other infos for comparison?

This topic looks more like a kopitiam topic LOL

Back to topic, I heard this is truth for others, different cars different model with different fuel performance also different. For me, it's truth, petronas fuel run more distance for both of my cars. And I noticed the difference quite huge, around 30km ~ 40km.

currently im driving kelisa manual, for me, petronas give more km than others. caltex/mobil/esso slightly less but slightly better pickup while shell for me give less km compare to others but better for pick up. so, i choose petronas smile.gif

nway, i heard that for proton's car, better use petronas coz during engine testing period they use petronas's petrol, not sure but this is what i heard ar biggrin.gif

i use petronas..km wise no difference as i use both petronas and esso

but i prefer to use esso because of one thing.....the petrol dont give my engine a shitty feeling..if i use petronas i can hear like those tappet sound during hard acceleration during a very hot day.

if i use esso, no sound what so ever....so im leaning towards esso

I was told my a reputable machanic that the best petrol you use is the fuel used during tuning for your car. therefore, before servicing / tuning of your car, use whichever brand you want and stick to it.

For diesel, only Esso/Mobil gives better mileage at the expense of power. Shell gives the best overall pick-up but exhaust is always dirty while Petronas is best of both worlds but less pick-up and still very dirty.

Must try BHP and Caltex soon.

Is it true that some people said that there is petrol that is not suitable in hot condition such as Shell and Petronas as it will vaporize, and some is suitable in hot condition such as Mobil as it will not vaporize. That is why we were asked to tighten the fuel cap.

I am asking because i do not know smile.gif

if u guys look carefully, all those 'promises' of save more n more kilometre are jaz a strategy to sell their oil. do u even feel like u get more kilometer if u switch to petronas? or shell for an example.... i feel like its all the same. coz no oil that contribute to saving an fc! for now.

That depends on what car you drive. Some owners say Petronas give more mileage. Some say Shell...while I say Caltex. You have to try it yourself first to know whether your car gives more mileage with Petronas Primax 3. Later try to experiment with other petrol brands.

If I always cruise during in highway, then Petronas fuel does have extra mileage compared to other brands. If you do a lot of pickups, then Mobil F1 is the fuel I will be looking for.

This is just based on my personal opinion tested on a Perodua Kelisa 1.0 EZI Auto. smile.gif

as for my experience..
i will say shell can give me more mileage = using wira manual
i didnt calculate the mileage..but i did see my tank meter everyday with same distance..
petronas seem to finish faster than shell..
but for V-power its teh same mileage with RON97 shell petrol at same price

petronas = pick up not bad but when put under hot sun the petrol seem like disappear very fast tongue.gif
shell = pick up super but also super drinker
caltex = pick up ok can be consider for those who need extra mileage ^^
mobil/esso = pick abit S**K but can get longer mileage ^^
bhp = pick up so so and mileage so so also ^^

tested on my myvi and iswara + from my customer cars ^^
actually most important is the tunning of a car ^^
you want more pick up mean you will get lesser mileage of the fuel ^^
hope that help abit ^^

Here is a comparison of the FC in petrol.

ESSO > CALTEX > Petronas > SHELL

For my Nissan, Esso gives the best mileage and best engine peak power.
Petronas does give modest results of FC, but pickup can be bad.

If possible avoid Shell at all cost. But then again, like I said, Petronas is just "so-so", sometimes near to the borderline of SHELL

actaully wat my fren told me is that some petrol/brand/station/supplier will mix some of their petrol with other thing so they have more petrol to sell..which ended up u can see the different on the car..if u get the pure petrol..then u can feel ur car got more power..got more km lor..

Imho i dont think calculating your extra mileage to about 10km is something great.
everyday we drive, we face different traffic situation.

so its hard to exactly calculate unless you drive the same route everyday with the same pattern when you press gas and same traffic.

for me, if i pump full tank, if i get around 20 km more mileage then can consider la..anything less is irrelevant to me

For a typical Kelisa (no modd):

Petronas gives more KM, but engine is somehow very noisy

Shell gives a smoother drive, quieter engine, and better aceleration

Esso/Mobil gives smooth drive but less KM and power compared to Petronas

BHP similar to EssoMobil but 1st few tanks, engine knocking appeared! doh.gif

So, Shell is best for a spirited drive where u can zoom here, zoom there.. Petronas is for KM, while EssoMobil and BHP is for collecting points~ laugh.gif

*tests done over 4 year period~ blush.gif But the new shell super + economy formula didn't try yet~ doh.gif

Not necessary~ tongue.gif

Fuel is cheaper but is not as pure, so mileage may not be as good.. icon_rolleyes.gif

Btw, if u change stations regularly (Shell-->Mobil-->BHP-->Shell-->Petronas)..FC will be very very bad! shocking.gif

hurm... looks like different ppl hav different thoughts of each petrol...
well im driving a 1.3 m perodua myvi...

if mileage is the factor
Caltex > Esso > Shell > Petronas

if pick-up is the factor
Petronas> Shell > Esso > Caltex...

so here we can say the more milage the fuel can give the less pick-up it will provide... maybe its the theory that "heavy" fuel burn slowly..[less pick-up more milage]

so for now i stick to shell... its the best of both world...

From my personal experience Petronas bad mileage and bad pick up power sweat.gif . I been using Petronas on my Myvi 1.3 for 6 months. Managed to get only 420km to 440km (If miraclelah). And the pickup need to step quit deep then only got the pickup. Also there customer service Majority no manners. After that my dad recommended me Esso. Using it for 4 months only then i channel Shell V-Power. Big differents. Been using for 2 years plus (Shell V-Power), millage 530KM++( 60% city & 40% highway) and beautiful pickup power. I think if 75% highway can go till 650KM+. When warm up my car every morning, no funny2 smells came out unlike Petronas and Esso. Planning to stick with Shell forever. Somore their customer service excellent, very helpful, fast respond, neat place and nice place to hang out if got MD. Shell Rules thumbup.gif

petronas is more campro-friendly .
esso is not so friendly to campro , low end power seems to be lesser .

That depends on what car you drive. Some owners say Petronas give more mileage. Some say Shell...while I say Caltex. You have to try it yourself first to know whether your car gives more mileage with Petronas Primax 3. Later try to experiment with other petrol brands.

agree agree.....for my car

1. Shell
2. BHP
3. Petronas
4. Esso/Mobile
5. Caltex

the way u drives affect the most....

I use Shell coz of bonuslink and close to my house.

Anyway in M'sia all petrol oso refined by 1 company only... and no its not Petronas

Go to PD & u will know. Different co. then add some additives and do marketing & Consumer falls for 'placebo effect'

From what I know, Petronas do not do refining, exploration or pumping out oil, wonder what do they do except 'joint-ventures'

maybe u can try to understand the RON first for ur car then you will know what petrol should use for your car for best effort and fuel effieciency.
i am using esso regular for my car now and before is use primax, i am satisfy with the result in all performance and fuel effieciency part.

One time tested on highway with my dad in his old merc. Petronas from Johor to Ayer Keroh, then Caltex to KL. Use till empty tank then change.
On high speeds the car have a lot of vibrations and engine noise with Petronas. After changing the oil, become smoother after a while. After that we all stayed away from Petronas.
Didn't test with Shell, but I feel driving more syiok the few times I pump v-power in Kelisa. Dunno how much is placebo, biggrin.gif
Don't really care about FC also. If drive with a lead foot, however good FC also no diff. I just go for the brands I feel comfortable with. So, Shell, Caltex, Mobil, BHP.

Been using Petronas Primax 3 on my Wajunk old camplo. Honestly, It seems alright. <rm86 , average clocks around 450km if not more. Can sustain 2 weeks of my daily commute to my work place. My home to work place is around 40km.

p.s: running without aircon la. prefer fresh air more.

Here I want to share my experience... I also still choosing what petrol gives the best mileage...

On my Kancil (Auto) 660 - 1994 (15 year old car) [240k Mileage]

Shell - RM40(full tank) ----> 360km [RM1.80]

Esso - RM40(full tank) ----> 330km [RM1.80]

Caltex - RM40(full tank) ----> 330-ish km [RM1.80]

I drive this car 7 days a week with an average of 75km a day at 80~100kmh(110kmh at night)

Everything is stock.

I hope to try Petronas on my next refuel and lets find out which 1 gives the best.....(personally I hate Esso, drain very very fast for my Kancil)

the more i read, the more this thread seems meaningless. its like this..

evy car have their own taste for oil..so if petronas is good for a certain car, it won't be necessarily the same for another same car.... same goes with shell, esso, caltex and bhp. a definitely pointless thread. haha

FC best one Shell or Petronas... Esso and Mobil slgihtly behind them... then Power Caltex of course in return you will get lower millage...

maybe the tank driver went in for the chicken chop at esso station le haha. Shell feels more smooth while Petronas feels like lazy to pickup for my ride. But petronas did better mileage compared to shell. But i opt for Shell for it;s smoothness.

actually everytime u change to another brand of petrol, ur engine ecu will take some time to adapt to it. u must refill the petrol for 5-6times then only u can determine whether the petrol provide better fc.
the first tank after u change normally give u worse fc...

correct me if i am wrong...

i use to pump shell and petronas, i would say shell is better in terms of performance, and if u can control your right foot, u shud get better fc with shell. Petronas give weird noise and pick up really not that good.

here's my take

my myvi se auto
1. caltex.. RM 30 = 240km with super smooth and great power feel
2. petronas.. RM30 = 260km with lower high speed for same rpm compare to caltex.. smooth engine feel
3. shell.. RM 30 = 230km lowest high speed and my engine sound a bit louder

so? i use petronas all the time except when i see caltex nearby n my fuel tank less than 20% for sure i pump caltex

my experience (driving saga LMST 07):

for long distance drive with better km = shell super and BHP
for long distance with better pick up = petronas
for short distance with better km = shell and caltex.
for short distance with better pick up = petronas

esso n mobil = outta my list coz it doesnt feel any difference on pick up n km

Ah HELLO!!!! Octane levels? Leaded fuel? Deposits? Different alcohols? Additives? Apparently for the lower grade new engines.

I tried Petronas on my Nissan Sunny, compared to my favourite Mobil/Esso Synergy and I can tell you, Synergy is like ectasy to my engine compared to Petronas.

agree with u for this 2 bold parts
b4 this i only fill my gas at petronas n shell but after sometime,i tried caltex and resulted a good fc..
for long distance for sure shell coz i manage to get 660km/full tank with my 1.3 satria...usually petronas around 5**km/fuel tank
btw,it's hard to measure fc without high tech devices n under control environment seen condition should be consider too..the main point to get good fc is ur leg.. tongue.gif

3 years of ESSO because of ESSO station proximity to my work location. sweat.gif

Now using Petronas (on Waja 1.6 MT engine). The engine gives off lower hum with Petronas. brows.gif ESSO and Shell makes the engine sounds like coughing. doh.gif
