Here is what I think is a gameplay design flaw in ME2; it's my rant about how lots of the powers in ME2 are kinda gimped in ME2.

I agree for most part of what you said, I just finish recruiting my 1st set of dossiers as a Vanguard and I find myself behind cover most of the time. Charging into a target with other hostile nearby firing at you is basically suicide, what's worst is that if that target has shield or armor on that target doesnt gets knock down. Knowing that this power is already a high risk move, Bioware should atleast make this power a guarantee knock-down on that particular target. To add more salt to the wound, charge puts other skills on cooldown, making you unable to defend yourself from enemy fire.

IMHO, Vanguards are total crippled in ME2, they are basically gimped soldiers without an assault rifle. The only time i see myself playing as a vanguard like it suppose to be is when you unlock barriers or fortification from NPC sidequest.

There is more, the effectiveness of shotguns in ME2: Like I said earlier, rushing/charging in with a few hostiles nearby is basically suicide. Because of that I find myself using the SMG majority of the time.

Global cooldown is good, it adds challenge to the game. BUT, IMO it shouldnt be the same for every power. I suggest making all class specific powers cooldown be on a separate timer with the rest of the powers that you may find on other classes and make this powers have special properties like a guarantee knock-down for charge.

If Bioware is worried that players will just spam their way through, why not make hostiles with defences(shield, barrier & armor) be resilient to it's effect in shorter duration instate of totally be immune to it. Another option is to make this defence shorter and make their health higher, cause whenever I find that I'm got their defences down, there is no longer any point in using powers like pull, to finish them off; you can just finish them off with your conventional weapons fasters.

i think the game is pretty balanced. You can bind your team's skill to your skills. If shields are your problem, overpower them, fire a couple of times then pull and blast.
So a good team is important to take down harder foes.

My Jacob + Shepard + Miranda combo is pretty decent : Shielded = Mir: Overpower, Jac: Pull, She: Shoot or slam. (soldier), or blast if im biotic.

I finished the game 3 days after release with no dead squadmates, full paragon. Carrying over ME1 saves generally changes the story quite a bit, particularly in your characters (the Default male/female ME2 chars have a different story)
