wii mote unable to turn on, help please

guys, i had just bought a new wiimote and nunchuck,
i can assure that both are authentic/genuine, however, when i turn on the wii, the mote does not seem to respond to it (it's like the wii is not turned on) any ideas? batteries are new, workable on my old wiimote the new nunchuck works fine with my old wiimote thx in adv |

You need to sync your wiimote, press the red button is the mem card slot on the wii, and the press the red button inside the battery compartment to sync.
