For those of you who have read this book, is it really good? I'm thinking of getting it if it's worth the money.

It is a good book, if you don't already know what's it gonna tell you to do.

Basically, it says "if you think of something real hard, keep on thinking about it day and night, sooner or later you will get it, whether negative or positive". Why we are faced with so much misery and unhappiness? Because we keep thinking about them, that's why.

But, if you want to buy the book, just go ahead. The price is steep, though. It's not like your everyday New York Times Bestseller.

This is a self help book. More of a motivational tool. But how it portrays The Law of Attraction is good. Repackaging the Law of Attraction with a label "Secret" makes it more mysterious and nice to read.

Go get the DVD. The novel is actually a expansion of the DVD. Most of the words you find in the book comes from the DVD tho. Since The Secret started from a movie.

The secret is a nice book to read and it helps to motivate our ways of thinking. It is highly recommended by a lot of people but if people who are unwilling to change I guess this will be a waste for them.

Anyway, the other day I saw in Borders selling the Secret for Teenagers, its blue hard covered and written by another author. sadly i can't remember the name but i think its nice too as i flip a few pages and glance through it when i was there.

Agree with above.

To me, the Secret is fluff that people who watch Oprah fall for. I mean, seriously? Thinking positively can cure all your problems?

So you mean to say that the negative events that befall people (in Africa for example) is a result of them thinking negatively eh?

Echo to post#6, in short,

*If you think of something hard enough, you will get it eventually.

Positive eg, if u want so much to become a millionaire, u will not waste a second on doing something else in ur life, but trying ur best to achieve it and eventually u will figure out ways to get to your target.

Negative eg, when one dumped by his gf, he keeps thinking of their past old good times, misses her, misses everything abotu the romance, he can never get out of the gloomy days cos thats all he wants - he wants to remember her and the romance. If he wants to walk out of it, all he has to do is to drop everything and live a new life!

Yes, POSITIVE thinking can help one with everything.

Sad things happened in africa is not about personal choice, it is politics and country and history reasons. This book is about how to work wonders from one self.

Other than the * line above, I would conclude this book is all about Love. Love=positive. Love creates and change, instead of destroy. When you are a love yourself, u send out love messages around, it effects the universe.

It probably goes along the line of self-fulfilling prophecy. If you think something is gonna work, it will work, vice versa.

But then, I believe positive psychology can only help that much people as not everyone is as gullible(pardon my word) as some other people. Which is also why, probably, magicians who invite audience up the stage as assistant are the best in the field in searching "gullible" personality to actually believe that his/her trick would work. Same goes for hypnosis, not everyone is able to be hypnotized as much as we would like to be. smile.gif

Positive thinking although obvious, can just be easily miscontrued by some ppl to allow them to live in denial. And living in denial is one of the cause of a breakdown.

Are you also talking about one without self-awareness wouldnt be able to stand on his own or find a right path for himself? If yes, then i agree with your quote here.

U mean misconduct?

How one would misconduct by allowing self in denial? Suspect u talk about one live without self-awareness too, no?

Added on October 31, 2009, 9:58 amAnyway, if both of you are talking about self-awareness, one can actually never able to realize if he lives with or without it or not, until one day he finally able to stand up and look back and call his past as a blind folded past.

This book is not an opener for self awareness like most positive thinking books around. I would say the idea of this book is to break down one's life into many aspects and all in one to start and start going from Love by realizing Love is always around and we shouldnt break the chain to love others or receive love

It has defined a good meaning of love, not just the common love that we basically know of....

I'm afraid you misunderstood what I said. I merely stated the reason why one would find "the secret" a huge help and another does not. Just like self-help books, it doesn't help every single person. smile.gif

On your quote, I reckon we do not place self-awareness in a bi-dimensional view, but rather in a continuum.

How do you compare one low self-awareness and the other with higher self-awareness in the context of finding the "right" path?

isn't this basically about positive thinking and generate the vibration that magnects the things u want in life.

then , this all about subconcious mind and law of attraction.
