i'm a celcom broadband user. connection overall just average whether basic or advance. good for small laptops or netbook coz doesnt need much time time to load page on small screen. but theres 1 time celcom got problem for 2 days so i switch to digi broadband edge ( lastyear ). i took the Rm66 permonth. what u hear about digi being stable is so wrong in fact its horrible! slow, disconnect all the time. i would say much worst than dial up. only use for two days ( i lost rm66! ) i switch back to celcom Rm68 permonth. of course lastyear digi doesnt have 3g only edge but its horrible. u know what, theres a few times when celcom 3g got disconnect on off n i got fedup refreshing the page to check email, i switch the settings to edge ( 284kbps ) n this is what i call stable. celcom in edge mode is very stable only very few times disconnect but 284kbps its only good for light browsing page like email, friendster n facebook not recommendable for myspace or heavy pages.
but hey, maybe this new digi 3g is better but i advice stay away from contracts unless u got free trial test or read good reviews. last year theres also digi edge packages with free modem+unlimited edge+eeepc for Rm123permonth package for 2 years. i almost took the offer but felt relieve i did not after the edge connection horrible. i'm sure that time theres a lot pissed off customers want their money back after realize the digi edge sucks bigtime!

I'm one of the happy users of DiGi EDGE.
I was an unhappy user of Celcom broadband.
I have tried all wireless broadband services before. smile.gif DiGi EDGE is one of the most stable I have used before. smile.gif

Anyway, it is always advisable not to sign up for any contract package, regardless any provider.

Yeah, wireless broadband services are very location dependent. Guess, I need to write a review here soon for all the experience I had when I used them. tongue.gif

Yes, there has been times where my direct download connection is throttled to around 512kbps. But sometimes it would jump back to 1Mbps. Anyway recently I noticed that my modem keep cycling states. I can see from the LED status that it is disconnected when idling and when one of my services accesses the internet, it would connect back in a flash. No disconnection on any sensitive applications though.
Yup, I'm sitting right in the middle of the house and it still works fine. No need to find a nice spot. Things has been such a breeze with Digi Broadband.

davidmak >> That's sad. How can I play games if it dc all the time?
*
Er. He didn't mention it disconnects all the time right?
Only during idle, this happens also to DiGi EDGE or any other wireless broadband providers, no connection transfer that it will go 0.00kbps, but once you access to the Internet, then it goes back. Not a disconnection, just that the connection goes idle. smile.gif

This is turning out to be a nightmare!

I just signed up Digi BB Extreme, but I'm only getting EDGE speed. Worst yet, I can't seem to do anything while I'm connected to Digi's BB. I can't even surf the net.

I wonder if my port forwarding settings has anything to do with it.

Anyways, hopefully this improves, or I'm going to return it following their 7 day policy.
*
If when sign up and you are in DiGi 3G area but you are getting EDGE coverage, then you can request for refund.
But if you already acknowledged that it is in EDGE area, then you can't get your refund.

....I'm not sure if I should feel insulted by both your comments.

Anyways, yeah I am in 3G covered area, obviously. Anyways, Fixing one problem at a time. Configured the Digi connection to suite my network already.

I'll do more testing and see how it goes.

This is not the easy, dumb proof installation Digi promotes it to be. Digi call centre wasn't very helpful saying I need to bring my PC to their centre for configuration. Lols. Idiots.
*
If you are in 3G area and only get EDGE speed, then should get back your refund.
Anyway, select your modem to only WCDMA network, that means it forces it to be WCDMA. smile.gif

QUOTE(9M-MAS @ Jun 29 2009, 07:27 AM)
Question(S): If I sign up for any of the packages:

1) if I move to an area with no 3G, will it fall back to EDGE?
2) if I fall back to EDGE, will EDGE usage be counted towards the FUP quota?
3) I'm a bit confused with the costing for with modem packages. If I sign up for discover package with modem, do I pay RM58 a month, or RM 58 + RM 15 = RM 73 a month (Currently)?

Thanks in advance
*
1) Yes. It depends, if your area has no EDGE, then it will fall back to GPRS.
2) Yes.
3) Yes, RM 73/month. For down payment, regardless any package is RM 100 which will be rebated in the first bill.

I did try using DiGi broadband on my netbook before but not using the modem DiGi gives. I was using my own ZTE MF622 on WinXP SP3, no problem detected. smile.gif

I believe it is the modem problem that causes all. Anyway, before reverting back to SP2, I suggest you try installing your modem to another PC which uses the same OS (SP3), this can minimise your scope of problems diagnosing. smile.gif

I was given Huawei E160E from them. I think it isn't easy to find a user to have the same OS since everyone here is using Vista.

Btw, ZTE MF622 you bought it at how much?  sad.gif
*
hmm.gif Try finding those using netbooks, most netbooks are installed with SP3. smile.gif
I'm using SP3 anyway. smile.gif

I bought it at around RM 450, more than a year ago when USB modems were still at high jacked price. biggrin.gif

what package u are using?
can introduce me to Digi 3G seller. want to do test at my place.. icon_question.gif
*
DiGi will not do speed test or demo at your place, you need to sign up for one account if you need test out. smile.gif To register for an account, any Specialised store/centre or DiGi Centre in Klang Valley, Penang and KK will be able to do so. smile.gif
On the other hand, I heard there is an independent service provider that provides such service for you to test out these broadband services. smile.gif

hmm,if wana test 1 or 2 months,i need to straight away signup one of their package?after 1 or 2 months testing, the modem need to give back to them?
*
No, the modem is belonged to you. If you sign up for the package with modem, your minimum commitment is 12 months. So, you need to pay for the remaining months of modem payment.

QUOTE(pisang @ Jul 3 2009, 04:55 PM)
i've some questions to ask ... hope some sifu can help me.

i plan to sign up for DIGI wireless broadband..
purpose:-
1) normal surfing, downloading
2) youtube
3) minimal BT (occasional)
based on that, i plan to sign up for the Discover RM58 pckage. is this package sufficeint for me?

Regarding the bill, I've my own modem...and plan to use auto debit payment using credit card.
so, i just need to pay RM58-RM5 (own modem)-RM5=RM48...correct?

another questions would be.. i'm travelling a lot and most of the time the 3G signal is not available...
if this is the case, does that mean that i will be automatically switched to EDGE (max 384 Kb/sec) connection or even GPRS?

thank you thank you...
*
Please describe more on the files that you intend to download. Please be reminded 3GB means any of your Internet activities, that includes Youtube streaming too. smile.gif

RM 48 excludes of service tax.

EDGE maximum is only 230kbps and 384kbps, 384kbps is UMTS speed. smile.gif
Yes, it will switch to either EDGE or GPRS, depends on the location. smile.gif

downloading should be less than 1 Gig... so i'm not worried about over quota of 3GB.

does DIGI support up to 384kbps UMTS (assuming 3G is not available)? or just EDGE at 230kbps?
btw, what's the max speed for GPRS?

thanks rclxms.gif
*
By the way, my apology. It was a typo. I meant EDGE doesn't support up to 384kbps, that is UMTS. EDGE is only 230kbps. My mistake. smile.gif

Eh, lets say i get rm58 with 700kb/s and the usage limit is 3gb
Does 3gb = pure download when i download stuff or even if i stream youtube, it counts too?
How about games?
*
No, Youtube, Internet surfing, gaming and etc. everything is counted. Once any download packet is received, then it is counted.

Bound to any contract? Forever RM 78/month or limited time? Just like the package during soft launch, the initial price only lasted for the first six months and aferwards it goes back to a new pricing.
The promotion is still available? Considering MV is not that far from me. biggrin.gif
My house has full coverage of DiGi HSDPA. rclxms.gif

if not mistaken, the contract is bound for 1 yr. if u terminate before the 1 yr end, u jz hv to pay for the modem for the remainding months.
ie: left 3 months yr termination fees is rm30x 3@ rm90 & THE MODEM IS YOURS!!!

after the 1 yr term, the monthly fees is back to RM108. still cheap compared to other 2 operator. I tried the speed and its superb!!!

Added on July 7, 2009, 11:53 amNEW!!!

DiGi has launches it student capus plan. applicable for student who has student matrix card. The rate, unconfirm. Saw it yesterday at Subang!!!
*
OK, understood. I'm not sure if it is still available. biggrin.gif
Yeah, I know it is good. I have tested all broadband services and DiGi gives me the best experience. biggrin.gif

You mean DiGi Campus? It has launched long time ago but recently with revised promotion and rate.
Unless you mean it launches promotion rate for 3G broadband. At the moment, DiGi Campus only has promotion for DiGi EDGE which I am using now. smile.gif

Last weekend i signed up for Explore package. DiGi was having a promotion where the promotion price is RM78 with free modem at The Curve. They also told me that there will be a 1 year contract attached to the account and the price will remain at RM78 until i terminate the account. I also signed up for online billing and auto debit where i receive another RM5 off from the RM78, respectively. The only thing is, I'm staying outside of their broadband coverage  tongue.gif
*
laugh.gif Then you wanna pay RM 78 for EDGE? tongue.gif
How much did you pay for upfront payment? smile.gif
Man, does anybody have the slightest clue where and when is the next roadshows for this promotion? drool.gif

EDGE is RM 66.00 by the way. smile.gif
If one registers DiGi broadband and only has EDGE, the FUP will be calculated too.
To be honest, I don't understand what you were trying to convey. sweat.gif Sorry.

I'm actually paying RM68, after the RM10 off for online biling and auto debit (RM5 off each). Currently I'm on RM33 Edge (50% off promotion awhile back at Low yat plaza). I have my reasons for subscribing DiGi BB. Been using only for a few days and i'm already at 2GB...hahahahaha.... biggrin.gif

Just pay RM100 as advance payment and you are good to go.
*
No. smile.gif Only RM 5.00 will be deducted. smile.gif
In order to get physical bills, you need to pay RM 3.00, so it is actually RM 73+RM 3 = RM 76.00
Since you are not taking that, then only RM 5.00 for auto payment will be taken into account.

QUOTE(techsavvy123 @ Jul 7 2009, 01:58 PM)
Its broadband not  EDGE. 3.5 speed already.
maybe u can try at pc fair.
*
I know. twenty6 registered for 3G broadband despite not in coverage area. Thus, I told him he is paying extra for EDGE.
Anyway, EDGE is considered as broadband and it is 2.75G.
