As far as I know, that's the maximum speed from the tower and it is not a dedicated speed allocated to per user. When more and more people join Digi 3G, the more of the said 14.4Mbps connection are shared by the amount of users online at a particular time. That is when it is the right time to judge and conclude the overall quality of the 3G connection by Digi.

yups...dats y they didn't mention about maximum speed they can provide but they only "brani" promise wif an average speed...as a precaution...

Isn't it so much cheaper to co-locate your server in a datacentre which gives each port 1gbps or more?
*
if it is stil under TMNUT then no use la...better build yr own infrastructure...anywy we r out of topic..lets end it here....

aremien all wireless telcos got fair usage policy (xcept AMAX Wimax) even streamyx...

-->wif celcom once u reach allocated volume yr speed wil b capped but u stil can use at throttled speed wif no xtra charge...same wif maxis n u mobile (u mobile got FUP but not implemented it yet)

-->wif digi once u reach allocated volume yr speed wil not be capped BUT they charge u 15cents/10MB until yr bill reach RM138(discover n xplore) RM188 (xtreme)...

Digi Broadband Discover Plan
RM58  3GB

1 byte = 1024 bit
1 KB = 1048,576 bit
1 MB = 1073,741,824 bit
1 GB = 8589,934,592 bit
3 GB = 25,769,803,776 bit

Average download rate 700 kbps = 700, 000 bit/sec

Time taken to download 3GB of stuff = 25769,803,776 / 700,000 = 36,814 seconds
36814 sec = 10 hours

Therefore the 700kbps can last for first 10hrs only?

Is the above calculation correct??
After 10hours the speed get choking??? vmad.gif
*
not really...after 10hrs u r stil under da same speed BUT u r now being charged 15cents/10MB until yr bill reach RM138 tongue.gif get ready 2 burn yr pocket.. whistling.gif

Is there anyway to let it cap at RM 58.00 or everyone is expected to use more than RM 58.00? unsure.gif
*
i think ppl juz dun realize/care about de xtra charge of 15cents/10MB after 3GB of usage...they juz c da RM58 only dats all...later on they wil blame digi 4 charging more than they tot hmm.gif

I believe DiGi has made it clear on its T&C, nobody will blame it. Just that I am curious if there is any way to stop it at RM 58.00. hmm.gif

QUOTE(sugen @ Apr 26 2009, 04:56 PM)
I got a question for you guys to solve out..Perhaps u are willing to help..haha
Ok.. my data unlimted (EDGE) contract v DG will expire soon in June.. So, i am in doubt now to weather
1. To sign for DG 3G broadband RM 58 or
2. To continue the EDGE data unlimited plan...

But, my area is still not cover by DG3G broadband.. If i sign for this, then my speed will be EDGE speed.. If this is true, then must well i continue the EDGE plan... But, i want faster speed.. Even if i would cross over to Maxis/Celcom, then it raises another concern...
a.Maxis/Celcom 3G coverage is not as wide as EDGE.. Which mean that most the time when i am traveling.. I got GPRS speed.. Hai yo... very headache.. Your advice & opinion is needed.. TQ

P/S: FYI, i had with EDGE unlimited plan for the past 2 YEARS.. From the Bill, my GPRS/EDGE data never exceed 3GB usage.I am from PG,my friend who work in DG said they will do a roadshow for the 3G broadband roll out for PG in May. And he will borrow me his 3G broadband SIM for me to test in my house.. rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif
*
i blieve dat 3G coverage on celcom/maxis is not a big prob anymore...since u said yr data usage is below 3GB n u wan more speed so i think u should wait 4 digi 3G...but remember when da speed increase yr usage might b increase too...juz stay wif yr EDGE...in a month of june revise again yr choices..

@cardin
Is the Maxis/Celcom 3G coverage as wide as EDGE coverage?
*
no...wht im trying to say is, 3G coverage is already available in major cities, small towns, highlighted/hot places (uni/college/industrial/highway/tourism etc) across da country...while EDGE is evrywhere mins it could b even along da way of small roads ...

So i should sign up for DG 3G broadband RM 58.. While getting EDGE speed as my area does not have DG 3G
*
as i said u can wait a bit longer....since u said yr EDGE is about 2 expired in june...let c whether digi 3G can make it 2 yr home..then if not, u can subscribe 2 any other telco dat provide 3G/3.5G speed...as long as u r not concern of getting high speed why dun u stay wif EDGE?

The fair usage policy.. Is it only happend in a Malaysia boleh country? Do u come across to know any others country's (US,Uk, Singapore,etc..)wireless broadband provider having this policy?
*
yups...even worst than us...but what makes a difren is the network speed/quality itself...well, all of us got FUP but our broadband speed here in ms'ia is lower than most of the country that implement da FUP...that's da main prob that cause da dissatisfaction... sweat.gif

hows digi doing so far?

The not-so-smooth connection still persists?  I am having it today.. urgghh.  Quite annoying to keep refreshing the page, and yet, i am not on 3 web pages running simultaneously at all. The page still loads fast, but the repetitive clicking (refreshing) n incomplete web page are annoying.

Haha, i am preparing back my CBP just in case digi is having hiccups.

I am just going to see how things are over the next few days.

really ar? not even 3 months after launching already got prob? i think myb they r doing sum minor maintenance...perhaps...
