Depends lah, protection has stunted Proton for a long time, only with recent competitions, Proton has been force work harder...
Example, in early 2000's, the difference of price between national car and foreign is so big since the government increased tax during 1998 financial crisis....thus Proton and Perodua can maintain with market share...
In 2003, Toyota and Honda delivered a shocker, Vios and City which is practically just over RM 10 to 15 k of Waja......
That time, Honda City I-DSI was about RM 78,888
In 2006 or 2007, Proton changed its CEO, only since then, there has been a revamp of how Proton works...
Conclusion, is competition makes a company forced to work harder...
In terms of spec, the Proton Exora should a bit better than the Livina
