I personally wouldn't go for it. The pickups are more or less the same price of the guitar, and I'd rather go for a guitar that is made of better quality wood rather lower quality wood and hardware. Although SX is a good budget line, I still prefer to go for something else. But in the end, it's all up to you.

firstly, do u have the guitar already? if not, then dont bother and go get a better guitar with the money.
if got, then its only pickups.
just make sure to keep the original pickups, so when u decide to upgrade to a better guitar u can swap them back in.

shouldn't be a problem, you can re-use the pickups again anyways. so if you like the combo then stick with it, if you don't like it you can always change it

i'd say not worth it, unless you're planning to get a better guitar on the long run. then u can swap the EMG.

Buying an SX JUST for EMG pickups, not worth it at all.
SX Guitar around Rm650..... Pickups are like RM700 already. Installation is another RM100 (RM50 for each pickup) at most place.
That's like RM1450 already.
You can get a low end RG or even a Jackson for that amount...... and their pickups isn't that bad either.

The MH50 isn't that worth it for the amount you're paying. I personally tried it, and it feels...... below average. I'd rather get a Jackson if I'm paying that much.

hmm..i bought a second hand SX LP a few years ago. it cost about rm350 only hehe. so, i thought of putting in emg 81 and 85 on them just for fun. but yeah, like most of you said here, the pickups are more expensive than the guitar itself lol. the sound is pretty aggresive though, mainly use for fast metal riffs. the solo-ing part is kinda flat for emg pickup, so i rather switch to my other guitar if i wanna play other songs. in other words, emg seems good only for metal type riff. but then again, this guitar serves as a practice guitar for me so that i can thrown and torture like hell.

one thing i noticed about my sx is the finishing is not bad. i guess it must be from the early batch sold in malaysia. but definitely the wood is not a good one and also the fretboard design is kinda sucks but it doesnt really matter for me.

as for getting a new guitar, like jackson, you have to prepare about 2k+ for a normal jackson guitar. the jackson's quality is no where as good as it used to be anymore. they arent made in japan, in fact, made in indonesia. if you have budget, i would have ask you to get 2nd hair MIJ guitars like ibanez or those lawsuits model. they definitely more worthy.

just my 2 cents

Go test them (kau kau).. Sometimes you might be undecided when there are so many guitar choices but once you tried them you'll usually found the decisions to be much more easier.

I used to gas for some Epis but once I tried them I found myself not really liking the feel and sound of the guitar.

but used emg pups are lying around like everywhere lol!

and installation ah, schematics are on the internet..just need soldering kit...and some kemahiran hidup tingakatan 3 skills =)

and as for the rgr320ex...got floyd rose right?...a little kacau if you don't know what you're dealing with...i'd recomend staying away from floyd rose, but by all means go for it if you wanna learn about it...

So, learning to solder and assemble new pickups is easier then learning to tune a floyd rose tongue.gif

honestly, i think this statement actually has truth in it. soldering is straight forward, an FR is not(with the balancing act and what not) laugh.gif .

re-soldering is pretty much replacing what is already there, the wires are usually similar...

as for the FR, lazy to explain..but i feel it's quite mafan...

but i'd like to know from your point of view, how is tuning an FR easier than soldering =)

does this weight contribute to the sustain of a note or majority affected by the type of wood used on the neck/fretboard?

Hahahahah..... just joking man....

And normally, the heavier the wood, the better the sustain....... but there are so many variables (bridge, pickups, strings, neck) that it's hard to say that nowadays.

Normally, the wood of choice is Mahogany for heavy guitars.
