Competing wit Japs in street fighter is like playing Brazil in soccer.

They are just too freakin good.

Players like Daigo and RX are legends in the SF scene..can Malaysia produce a SF prodigy to compete in the international scene? Hope we will know soon enough.

Not really. There are either equal or not as good as us 10 years ago. I'm looking forward for someone like our old days now. Our group won't last forever.

I believe as long as we have people/competition and the dedication.. We can be as good as the Japanese, they are only ahead because they get a way earlier headstart. Its just natural that they have lotsa great players there.

But i have to admit, the gap is still big.

Gief is tough.
if you have your basic combo and grabbing timing down, i think most mediocre players like me have difficulties facing Zangief.

Against Zangief:
- Jump back HP/HK a lot
- Watch out for Green Hand and whiff Green Hand to throw
- If possible, never get knocked down, otherwise you have to guess on wakeup if he does Lariat or throw
- Know exactly what beats lariat (timed Blanka roll, Balrog crouching HP or HK depending on distance, etc)
- Don't do anything that isn't comboable, Gief can grab you in between

I could counter the Green hand easily by jumping straight then medium kick and do my combos for Akuma, but only against the hardest AI :]. If my character is knocked down, I could teleport away when my character is up and play the long distance game: The revenge of the hadoukens.
