Although Nokia is the owner of Symbian Ltd, but many of the handphone manufacturer have joined symbian foundation, including SE, Samsung, Motorola etc. Further more, Symbian OS is open source software.

Symbian Ltd. is a trademark of Nokia, but symbian OS is not. its an open sourse software.

Symbian OS is not used by Nokia only. SE have created their own symbian Os named as UIQ long ago, while Symbian S60 is the OS used by nokia. they r all based on symbian. now, after joining the Symbian foundation, the member will use the same symbian OS.

although the full spec is not release yet, but from the picture above, i can see it's using a xenon flash rather than LED flash, witch is a good news. It would be perfect if it has optical zoom, but ya i know I'm asking too much.

since W995 record video in WQVGA@30 fps, i think idou would at lease be the same.

I hope the UI is different from nokia's, I dont like Nokia's UI much, I don't mean Nokia's UI no good, but everyone's taste is different....

I think this phone will cost RM3k++....

no i think.... this phone got everything except 3.5mm jack...
W995 Hikaru is the only SE phone with 3.5mm jack...

FYI, UIQ IS one of the symbian OS, witch is createdby SE from the open sourse symbian OS, while the symbian OS used by nokia is called Symbian 60 (some use symbian 40)

its just like asking, ubuntu & vista, witch is better? each have their advantage & disadvantage...

samsung use WinMo in Omnia, but in the upcoming Omnia HD, they switch to the lastest symbian s60 5th edition, why? if WinMo really better than symbian, why samsung changing it? is samsung designer stupid?

battery & processor is still unknown, must wait till the final release i think..
it use microSD, but since Sony & Scandisk have developed a new memory stick, i dont know if SE will use this on idou, as the demo phone we r looking at is only a prototype, might have some changes before final release.

I think the IMX060PQ is the sensor used in Idou, as its newly developed by Sony in Nov '08, and the shipment date will be Mar '09, witch is quite close to the Idou release date Q2 '09.

I remember its capacitive, from some webside quite some times ago, can't remember clearly.

I'm more concern about its camera, how good is it compare to omnia hd? what video res it support?

already confirm that its touchscreen is resistive type, and the video is VGA@30fps. battery is 1000mAh, but GSM arena said it can last 2 days with bluetooth constantly on & email syncing at regular intervals.



further more, GSM arena also claim that the handset can fully replace a mid-range point-and-shoot digicam

GSM arena have made a comparison of the camera between idou & samsung INNOV8, and thus they have the conclusion above. and remember, the piece received by GSM arena is not yet final. the actual released product my be even better. how pixon12 perform still unknown, we will wait & see....
