it never will take over digital camera; not at the meantime. camera's on phone will only for convenience purpose.
unless sony decided to port the whole camera algorithm and chips from a PnS camera and implement into this phone. if not, my guess will be just the same with other phone camera. i am more concern towards the algorithm, not megapixel. |

QUOTE(shockk @ Feb 18 2009, 08:20 PM) we will have to see how good is this new sensor by Sony. it is supposedly based off a Sony Alpha DSLR sensor, and the sensor size is bigger than other mobile phone cameras. however, the lense on the phone does look rather small from the photo. resistive touchscreen is cheaper cost, so mostly it will be used. furthermore, most ppl like resistive rather than capacitive; since capacitive is harder to use and ppl like use fingernail rather than finger... the touchscreen used should be the same resistive touchscreen as used in the 5800. it is unlikely to be capacitive because the Symbian Touch 60 is just not optimized for it (as of now). abt the sensor might be DSLR... got source? i remember there is a news abt that, but i dont think it is Idou. |

QUOTE(shockk @ Feb 18 2009, 09:18 PM) to me, i've always enjoyed using my iPhone's capacitive screens compared to resistive screens. maybe it is just me. same here. but i sold my iphone. last 2 weeks i used back iphone and dem i miss that screen; and iphone too... but now with 5800xm.. at least can tahan awhile la...yup. true. if the camera makes very high compression of a 12.1mp photo, then it would be rather pointless as well like with most camera phones today that have so many MP but the size of the photos are really small, which shows that not much data is in the photo, hence lower quality photos. i agree with what you said; if the compression is too low, then no point having a 12.1mp when u dont get the detail. that is also why it(phone camera) cant take away digital camera's limelight. |

QUOTE(shockk @ Feb 18 2009, 09:43 PM) to me, the 5800 is one of the most sensitive resistive touchscreens I used, whereby don't really need any force but just a touch will do. just hoping that the Idou would use back roughly the same sensitive screen as the 5800xm and i'm sure many people will be happy. yes. i know. thats y i like. hahahahahahQUOTE(jass80 @ Feb 18 2009, 09:46 PM) wait till u see Idou's price only think of selling. however i more anticipated on LG's KM900. |

QUOTE(cheebc @ Feb 20 2009, 03:09 PM) http://www.sony.net/SonyInfo/News/Press/20...144E/index.html, as posted by someone else in the 1st page.. okay. so it might be using this sensor. good. now lets see if the mobilephone camera algorithm is up to the task.I think the IMX060PQ is the sensor used in Idou, as its newly developed by Sony in Nov '08, and the shipment date will be Mar '09, witch is quite close to the Idou release date Q2 '09. |

actually i really fantasied that one day Sony will just use their Tseries camera body and mechanism, and just add that mobilephone thingy..
my guess, Idou will be the camera focused multimedia phone due to the 12.1mp. or they just want to create the hype of 12.1mp becoz in 8mp race, Samsung started it 1st. again, no point doing a MP races when they dont fix that stupid compression and detail loss. they(phone makers) seems to forget that now we have 8gb and 16gb card. come on... 12mp photo wont take much of space now... |

QUOTE(ian90 @ Feb 21 2009, 04:51 PM) ah...actually nowadays alot of phones can beat iphone edi. "eyy look.. i got iphoneee...." hahahahhahahahjuz becoz Iphone has the brand name and image only... it sounds cool to have an iphone. (which i think is bs. =p) anyways, speaking of features, this phone definitely can beat iphone. its more sleek and stylish. Added on February 21, 2009, 10:31 pm QUOTE(jzkid @ Feb 21 2009, 09:45 PM) probably 2.5-2.8k if they are the 1st one to come out with 12.1 commercially~ unless samsung/LG jumps the queue.no point telling the whole world that they HAVE the phone(1st 12.1mp phone in the world) but not SELLING it. okay, if SE dont do anything about this Idou.. LG will
check out Engadget news.. QUOTE(engadget) Engadget LG affirms that 12 megapixel cameraphone is in the works by Darren Murph, posted Feb 20th 2009 at 9:04AM Here at MWC, the only cellphone maker to actually come forward with proof of a 12 megapixel phone was Sony Ericsson. Still, you know that everyone else is apt to follow suit as quickly as possible, and it seems that LG will be one of the first. In fact, said company "absolutely" has a 12 megapixeler in the works. That's according to Jeremy Newing, LG Mobile's head of marketing in the UK, who also proclaimed that the KS360 would be LG's first Android phone. In his words: "We'll very much be releasing a 12MP cameraphone. However, it's important that people realize when taking 12MP images, they'll be using huge amounts of data, and it will be more difficult to do things like send such files." Honestly, we're a bit tired of the megapixel race -- get an optical zoom onto a slim cellphone, and then we'll talk. and i agree with the BOLD. |
